Is the Beovision 10-40 panel going to be replaced?

    Hello fellow Beofans!

Next week I'll buy either the beovision 10-40 or the beovision 10-46. This week there will be a demonstration of the new flatscreen with the bigger size and I'm really curious about the bigger dimensions and if it is too much/too big. Our viewing distance is about 3,3 metres so I'm not really sure.

But apart from the size... I've read somewhere on this forum (can't remember where, looked for hours) that the full edge lit of the 10-40 is going to be replaced with the same kind of screen as the 10-46 has. Only edge lit on top and bottom of the screen. This had to do with the clouding issues some Beovisions had.

Does anybody know it this is true and will it make a difference in clouding problems?

    Thanks in advance!

i think that you should go and view both and let your eyes decide. for hd content i would go for the bv10-46 as i feel in my opinion you'll benefit the impact that hd has to offer on the bigger screen.

alternatively if you haven't got the space to accomadate the 46" then i'm sure you will be happy with the 40.  i also feel that because of the slimness and minimalism of these screens i don't think that it would leave a big foot print in your home.

and with the picture circuits on b&0 tvs providing excellent picture quality i'm sure the bv10-46 will look awesome.

Yes, my dealer told me that the Beovision 10s construction was fixed to adress this clouding error and that it gets a new backlight system.

Great to hear that B&O finaly reacts to customers and their problems!

Or, more worrying, shouldn't they have figured this problem in the first place? What happened to Q/A?

As far as I know, the clouding issue is not an "error". Its a limitation in the LED technology, and its the same for all LED panels . Its only visible in extreme conditions and should not be noticed unless you really look for it.

As being not an error, there are some forum members who really have clouding issues on their 10-40 and some don't. Maybe the LED technology isn't that great yet. But, will the new panel with only top and bottom edge lit solve the clouding issue totally?

What about the 10-40's that are still in stock? Will they just get sold until a new lot will be produced or are they called back to the factory?

What about the 10-40's that are already sold? Will there screen be replaced with a new type if they experience clouding problems?

Does anybody know what policy B&O uses in these matters?

Well, I received my BV10-40 (blue) two weeks ago and it as clouding issues.

During the day the picture is just perfect, but at night time the black screen is more a grey screen with six or seven clouds !

The problem is that I only sit to watch TV after 10 pm with light control on "7", so the room is very dark.

The DVB-HD module is SW 8.0 from the 28th sept. 2009, so the TV may have been in stock for a long time (blue is not so current ?!).

I'm looking forward for my dealer to improve that (the tech will soon have a meeting "special BV10").

I knew it, still did it and had bad luck, but what a modern TV, can't stop looking at it. I don't regret it one second.

I had an Avant 32" non RF just before the BV10 and my parents still have an Avant 32" non RF : it looks like a dinosaur !

Looking backwards, I also remember that my brand new MX 6000 in 1996 had a tube failure and in 2001 the brand new Avant had a broken VTR. So what ? It was fixed.

BV10 as a three years warranty...

    Cheers,

    Gregory

With all these problems I think I will go for the good 'old' BV8-40Idea

Has anybody seen any actual difference in picture quality between 40" and 46" since the release?

I am considering a BV 10-40. What is the latest status of the panel used and the clouding issue?

    Beovision 7-55 with Beolab 7-4, 9s and 4000s

    Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

    Beosound 1, 5, 2000, and 3000

Re: Is the Beovision 10-40 panel going to be replaced?

I don´t think there is any plans on updating the panel in BV10.

I think the "clouding issue" gone out of proportion. I have not seen any problems with my BV10. Extremely happy with the picture quality.

I may come to see the clouding effect under extreme conditions, but why search for it?
