    Lost members over the years

As BeoWorld has been in cyber space for many years now, members has come and gone again. And most of the time we never notice when they leave. I was wondering the other day if there are former active members we haven't heard from for a long time. It's quite strange "knowing" people on a forum like this. For an example, if I pass away tomorrow in a car crash you will never know this.

    Two name came up:

"BeoFab" from BeoWorld Mk 1. He was living on Hawaii and later moved to NY, NY and was one of the most active members.

"Sudden" from BeoWorld Mk 2. Living in Stockholm and bought a Lamborghini Murcielago and had a BL3500 in the garage. He was very active but never followed to Mk 3 (current version of BeoWorld)

Does anybody know what happened? Are they (you) still here under a new name?

Are there any other frequent posters that silently has left us?

    Anyone you miss?

Just went back to the oldest page of the main forum. Then started to work my way back. Quite a few names that used to be regular posters, but no longer seem with us.

Mostly people don't decide to leave. They just get busy and get out of the habit of visiting, and Beoworld is just the same as most forums.

I will admit, I have done this myself. It was an automotive forum I was very involved in before I even found Beoworld, but once I did, Beoworld completely distracted me and like you said, I became busy. The biggest motivator for the change was the people. The people here on BW are infinitely better than those wannabe-know-it-all-geeks (I have the most posts so listen to me! that sort of thing...) on every other forum I have belonged to.

That's the difference to other forums. BeoWorld feels more like a family, or some very good friends that talk about a common interest. But, you (almost) never notify when a regular poster fade away. It's the life of a forum, I know, but it's a strange feeling.

I keep in touch with "BeoFab", though not as well as I used to.  I believe that he primarily lives in NYC now, but he travels a lot to Hawaii and Europe (I think his mother lives in Switzerland).  I'll direct him to this thread.

For the record, I came on board with BeoWorld Mk1 and was always treated so nicely by BeoWorld'ers.  This is a really neat crew of people.  In fact, I remember after Hurricane Katrina hit this part of the world, one of the first things I wanted to do when I got on WiFi again (which took a while as there was no power along the Gulf Coast of the USA for several days) was see what was happening on BeoWorld.  When I replied to a thread, I was immediately bombarded by well-wishers asking how we'd fared in the storm - made me feel very important that persons from all over the world were thinking about us.

I remember the pics of his flat in NY. I think he had a Beomaster 6000 or 8000 on the floor in front of the huges windows overlooking the NY skyline. He was a dedicated Jakob Jensen fan as I recall. I have looked for that picture but it seems it was loost along with Beoworld MK1.

Good to hear he's still around.

I remember he used to start his post with a wheather update from Hawaii and the view from his house. Made me whishing I was living somewhere else than cold Scandinavia.

Simon, the Beonic Man, he was around from the start of this 'new' board, quit for a while, came back with the same username, but hasn't posted since last November. He's around in person though - he visits the Bath and Swindon B&O store.

Mind you, I don't post much these days either.

I've met BeoFab - he lives a few blocks from me and stopped by once to pick up something he had purchased from me.  Nice guy.  'Miss his posts.

I think very few are consistently engaged with the brand. Unless you are a collector, interest grows when you eye a purchase, then once one scratches the itch it decreases again.

I stick around cause I like to stay in the loop what is happening with BS5/BM5, otherwise I am not that involved with it anymore since I got my TV and music systems I have more then I should in my tiny apartment to begin with.

Re: Lost members over the years

I've just been reading some old threads and it occured to me that member Soundproof hasn't posted for a few months - does anyone know why?

I always read his posts with interest as they tended to contain more factual content than hifi "wiffle" or "it's great just coz it's B&O" etc.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.
