Same here... First B&O product was a Form 1.. Followed up by a BeoCom 1600 ;-)

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

MX1500 from Guildford in 1989.....Yes I know it was technically a Philiips now, but back then I didn't care. I was 19 and spent a months wages on it!

It only died about 6 months ago, its in the loft as I can't bear to part with it!

I had always loved B&O from a very early age age and what an expensive addiction its turned out to be!!

Re: What was your first B&O purchase and why did you purchase?

The year was 2008 and I had just been given a Beomaster 4500 and Beogram 4500CD by a very generous neighbor. He did not have the Beolink 1000 anymore so I had to buy a Beo4 Stick out tongue...and that is the story of my first purchase!

My first equip purchase was a pair of BL5000 speakers Smile

The first one I got was a VERY used BeoLab 2500 + BeoSound 2300. Which I always thought was brilliant.

BeoSound 3000 + BeoLab 8000 about 12 years ago... and still enjoying them.

Over the year, added several others stuff, but you asked the first purchase only :)

1st Purchase - Beovision 3 - 32, simply the most beautiful TV ever built - it still looks magnificent and relevant today with incredible sound.

Why - my father had a Besound 9000 and Beolab 6000 speakers - my B&O fixation is entirely his fault (why couldn’t he like Matsui, I would be far wealthier now!!)

I got a Beosound Century floor sample for cheap since it was all I could afford at the time.  I sold it for more than I bought it for 8 years later.

Re: What was your first B&O purchase and why did you purchase?

About 4 to 5 years ago I stumbled across an online add: Beolap 6000 for 250 Euro. I didn't know anything about pricing of used B&O, but looked it up on ebay and thought "if my wife won't like these, I can resell easily".

In the end the person selling the speakers had moved to a new place and was trying to get rid off a lot of stuff he had stored in an old barn!

So I got a complete 10-15 yrs. old set:

    - Beolab Penta 3
    - Beolab 6000
    - Beovision AV9000
    - Beosystem 6500 (white) complete
    - Beolink 7000
    - 2 x MCL2P

    for 1.150 Euro...

By now everything was sold and replaced for two reasons:

    - when the TV (BV 3-32) we bought afterwards broke, I had no chance to do a 100% satifisfying integration with a non B&O AVR
    - I have decided to buy only new stuff when I sell other items...see signature..

    My Beo: Beosound 3000, Beolab 4000, Beo 4 DVD,  Beolab 5000/Beomaster 5000, Beovox S45.2 with Stands, Beosystem 7000 black with Beolink 7000, Beolink 1000, F1000 (3 cubes), Beovox 5000, Beovox 3000, Attyca 1.

Mine was a LX2500 (i think). I wanted a TV for my bedroom and had aways hankered after B&O. I found the LX advertised locally for cheap and was amazed by the picture and sound.

Since then I have bought lots more (none new, I cant afford it!) now my audio is all from about 1969, BL5000, BM3000, BM900 etc. The video is taken care of by an Avant and BV3. I wouldnt mind a pair of BL5's though.

My first, and for the moment only,  B&O is my BV7-40 Mk3.

    Aiming for a pair of BL3 or BL9 and a BS5 for N.music and N.radio.

Current collection: BeoVision 7-40 mk III, BeoLab 7-4, BeoLab 3 and BeoSound/BeoMaster 5.

Seriously, it's a beautiful package of excellent and awesomeness!

Re: What was your first B&O purchase and why did you purchase?

Bought Beomaster 5500 with Beogram CD50 and Beolink 1000 + Beovox 3702 after several month tries to find something sounding from a modern hi-fi.

Suddenly found a vintage seller, who offered a pair of 3702 speakers from a B&O collector- in close to perfect condition. After 5 minutes they worked, the midbass foam surroundings shivered, and replaced with a new rubber ones easily by the vintage serviceman.

Now everything works like new, and sounds fantastic together with a retro-futuristic design makes guests shocked the BM and BG are from the early 80's!;-)))

    Beomaster 5500, Beogram CD50, Beogram CD5500, Beogram 5005, Beogram 5500, Beolink 1000, Beo4, Beovox 3702

I cannot remember if my first buy was a Beolit 505 or my Beosystem 2400. Both were bought new from Windows of the Arcade - a wonderful shop with wonderful staff.

I had seen the 2400 and fallen in love with it so bought that, a Beogram 1902 and Beovox P30s. Lovely system and still one of the best looking.

Re: What was your first B&O purchase and why did you purchase?

My first purchase was in 1993. It was a BeoCom 1401. It was the only thing in the San Francisco Union Square store that I could afford at the time. Smile

My first REAL purchase was made the following year. I bought an MX-5500 with floor stand, BeoCord VX-5000 and a pair of BeoLab 8000 speakers.

I eventually traded up the VCR to a DVD-1 about 10 years later, but I still have all of my original things.

BeoVision 7-55 3D, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound 8, BeoLab 7-6, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, LC-1, BeoTime (analog clock), Form 1 headphones, Beo 4 remote.

Re: What was your first B&O purchase and why did you purchase?

Beocenter 4000 and x25 speakersin the early /mid '80's thought we were the dogs b*llocks - the kids thought it was a great p[iece of kit for early ripping of tapes!

The piece came from a shop in Worcester who were in the throws of ending the BnO connection - think I paid around £400 for it!

After a prolonged period I again saw the light and in 2000 bought a demo BC9300 from a franchise in Stoke on Trent - used it wth the x25's then really saw the light and bought sonme Penta vox - that really openned theb BnO door!

My first was Beocenter 9300 with Beovox RL 6000 speakers. I bought them because my neighbour bought Beocenter 9000 with Redline speakers in the 80`s and I was so envious! So I worked a whole summer when I was 17 saving all my money for my first B&O, and never regreted it Yes - thumbs up

    See hear feel B&O.

My father is quite an audio aficionado and I grew up with Quads and B&O's in the house. My first purchase was a BeoSound 2000 (aka Century) CD/tape/radio from the B&O shop in Palo Alto, CA. It was 1997 and I brought it over to New Hampshire where I was attending boarding school. As teenagers we were all into bass at the time so I had the Century modified to provide a variable line output so it could be hooked up to a subwoofer Big Smile. It continued to serve wonderfully as my main system through my college and graduate school years. It was not until just last year that I upgraded to the Lab 9's. The Century is still in great shape, enjoying its "retirement" as a secondary system.

I can't recall the order in which I bought them, but I got a BeoCom 1401 and a poster set early on in my career. Still have the posters. Must have given the phone away at some point.

Re: What was your first B&O purchase and why did you purchase?

I remember my first B&O purchase in 1970 as it was the day of yesterday. I visited my brother (who was a B&O dealer at that time) and saw a white Beomaster 3000 together with a Beogram 3000 and a pair of Beovox 3702 speakers. I instantly felt in love with the design and overall performance of that system and bought a similar set in rosewood right away. That was the start of a very long "relationship' with B&O. And ever since I guess I must have acquired and trade in over 50 B&O Beomasters, Beograms, Beocords, Beovox's, BeoLabs, Beosounds, Beovisions, etc. etc. ... and... actually...in spite of all the (negative) developments over the last years, I still love the brand!
