    Beosound Centry CD stopped working

The CD player in one of my Beosound Centry's that has served me well for almost 16 years suddenly stopped working today. It worked fine 2 days ago, but today when I loaded a CD it started spinning, then came an odd sound and the laser eye just fell down to the bottom of its track and the CD. Next the CD stopped spinning and the Clam opened again. Now this is happening everytime I try to play a CD on it.

I have tried to pull the power for a long time just to ensure that it was not just something that needed to be reset.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be and if there is a fix for it?

    Thanks in advance

    Mads

Sounds like the laser.  Does it make a juddering sound when you try and play the CD too?  If so, that's the laser going mad trying to find a focus point on the CD !!

Yes it's something like that. Had a hard time finding a word for it. So next step will be changing the laser part if that is possibly or are we talking about hte whole CD mechanism here?
