Link between BV3-32 and BV AV9000

    Hi All!

I just wanted to check with you all if you have some advice regarding this:

    Current setup

Livingroom: BV 3-32 with DVD1, AppleTV, Sagem STB (soon controlled via a Lintronic box) and Beocenter 2300, Beogram 3300 connected via Beolink Converter.

Bedroom: BV AV9000 with Beolab 3000 and Apple AirportExpress as V.AUX

    Questions:

Can I just get a Masterlink cable between the TV sets to be able to use all the video and audio sources from my livingroom also in my bedroom?

I would probably need a 30 meter cable ( since bedroom is on second floor) are there any limitations or special type of cable I need?

Are there any software versions I need to be aware of or additional boxes that needs to be added?

I also have a MX6000 and a LS 5500, can those also be attached to the same setup using some kind of splitter?

    Thankful for your advice..

    /Peter

Hi Peter, now to ask you a question!

How do you have your Apple TV connected to your BV3? With some type of video converter I presume, if so which?

    Thanks.

    Hi Kokomo,

I am not using an external video converter at all! :-)

Its connected directly to the scart on my BV3 (the green output to the yellow input on the scart adaptor) and the signal from the aTV is converted to composite using using a software installed on the aTV called aTVflash  (www.atvflash.com) where you simply activate it to be able to use with analog TVs.

    Works perfectly with brilliant colours!

    /P

to split the master link I use a distribution box that I bought from my dealer

I think the longest ML I have is 25 feet - not yards or metres ! but I am sure others can tell you if there are limitations ... however people are now recommending CAT7 cables and special ML adapters so that may work out costing you less ... contact Steve at Sounds Heavenly (a supporter of this site) and see what he recommends

The ML does not carry a video signal ... to do that I bought an RF amplifier from my dealer and carry the video as an analogue signal through normal TV coax cables ... this will work for you ATV because you are using an analogue signal into the BeoVision

The ML only carries control signals and audio

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Sorry, the AV9000 can`t act as a link TV, it can just be configured as video master. So it won`t be possible to control your main room sources via the AV9000. But you can add a BL active to your linkroom, tune in the link frequency to let`s say TV - 1 and control your mainroom sources via the BL active in L.OPT 4. To activate a main room source you press TV - 1 - LINK - DTV (DVD, V.AUX....). Now you have picture and sound from your main room source and you control it via BL active. Audio sources can be controlled directly without using the AV9000, if you connect Beolabs to the BL active. The sagem box can be controlled via Lintronic box connected to Scart plug PIN 8, so you can also control the box from bedroom - see Lintronic site. ML cable length shouldn`t be a problem. MX6000 can be integrated to your system using a BL video box - Im not sure with the LS5500....(?), but should work with an LX model.

Re: Link between BV3-32 and BV AV9000

    Thanks Elephant and Stefan!

I was just checking my BV3-32 and it doesnt have a RF Link output..only aeral input. It seems I am lacking the whole part of inputs and outputs.
I knew I didnt have the built in STB card ( thats why I bought the Lintronic box) but maybe I would need another card too to be able to get RF Link Out, or is it on the same card as the STB control?

Thanks, Stefan for clearifying about the AV9000, I need to check out that BL Active box then and learn more about the Lintronic possibilites..

Since I have a beolink converter attached to the BV3-32 to be able to use my Beogram and Beocenter 2300, will that be a problem since its occupying the ML contact on the TV or do I just connect the Link cabel directly to the "link" on the Beolink Converter and then to the AV 9000 to get at least sound from the BC2300? Would only a link cable be enough between the Beolink Converter and the AV 9000 to get CD and Radio in the Bedroom setup?

You can get a VX7000 and use it as an RF modulator - most unexpensive solution, or get an RF modulator and connct it to AV1 output (Scart connection usually connected to a Beo video recorder. This way you can get all main room sources to link rooms.

Should be no problem. As you are talking about the "link" on the converter I assume you have the 1610 converter for the AV9000 (?)

Yes. It`s the same way AV9000 and MPAV 9000 are connected - just an ML cable. I`m not sure, but it may happen in this configuration, that your AV9000 will also be activated, when you press TV (or another video source) in the main room. Just check it out.

    Thanks for your reply Stefan!

Yes,  its the 1610 Converter, so that will work ok then :-)

I guess I could get a VX7000 very cheap, but maybe for me it would be better with a HDR-1 instead ( just saw one fairly cheap on "Blocket") I suppose that one would do the trick also?

I`m not quite sure, but as the HDR1/2 have RF outs it should work.
