B&O where to get a discount?
Hello - can anyone recommend a B&O dealer who offers great discounts? I'm London based and interested in a new television.
I need no advice or help installing so just a simple sell for a dealer.
Thanks

Re: B&O where to get a discount?
I would suggest getting a pre-used one - you will get far more savings that way and the TV will still be new to all intents. Or ask a dealer for a display model, though they may well have had more use.

Re: B&O where to get a discount?
I agree an used one (from my point of view, a display one is to be preferred) if you are able to find the one you need is a good choice. Almost all TVs from B&O can report counters of effective usage, so you may ask the dealer to give you such details.
About discounts, I can tell you that my local dealer here in Italy for a new BV7-40 would discount 500€, no more, but including all attached services.
Just my 2 cents,

Re: B&O where to get a discount?
B&O isn't exactly a discount brand. That's a good thing and I'm sure it's contributing at least partially to why you want one. If new is genuinely out of reach, second hand is a great alternative. If you're just being cheap, loosen up and get what you want.
There is scarcely anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. - John Ruskin

Bang don't do discounts, so I wouldn't bother asking.
However, some floor stock can be offered at 10% less retail.

I asked.
My dealer told me : ok, 7% (on a BV8 40).
Sometimes it's good to ask!

Re: B&O where to get a discount?
I don't think there is a general rule. One day a dealer may throw a discount another he may not.
I got 2 times discounts at different dealers because i bought more, i.e i asked for BL3 and then in a last second had them up-sell me a BL2. This also worked with my BV8 where I had them up-sell me a BC2.
A straight discount is difficult for them due to the brand image but may happen if the dealer sits on inventory. Keep in mind what may start as a simple deal may be a lot of follow up work for him if software upgrades are required or you are not happy, so that argument usually doesn't help too much.

Discount, perhaps. Great discounts, absolutely not. Sorry! Dealer margin isn't that great and there's no real incentive to give a discount on brand new stock as it's made on demand. You might get a 10-15% discount from ex-demo stock.
The only way to get a 'great discount' is to go through the second hand market, such as Lifestyle, MoreThan etc.

Re: B&O where to get a discount?
Well they do discount when they want to get rid of something...
We just paid 12 000 CHF for a BeoVision 4 with Beolab 10 and BS3... instead of a list price of 32 000. Though I guess it's somewhat rare and you have to be patient.
Check their local website if they have one.. and speak to the dealer about what you're looking for. Most people are happy to help.

Re: B&O where to get a discount?
There was a dealer in St Albans who alledgedly gave big discounts. Where are they now? Are they looking after the customers in that area now?
Service, Service, Service is more important than any discount. Did you know that some dealers 'Bump' up the price by x% so the client thinks they are getting x% off. Don't be fooled by that one.

Don't they all just advertise the standard B&O catalogue price ??
I've never noticed a store here at least with different prices from the standard catalogue?
You're right though. Service is very important... but you can always change dealer if you're unhappy with service.

Yeah, many ex-demo kit though, or stuff that is in stock.
However, UK dealers rarely do deals on new product. And the question was from a UK customer.

ed7: It deemed to be {uncool} in the B&O culture to be asking for discoun
yes, so true, if one has to ask then one clearly is not worthy
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

LOL. But seriously, I would imagine each B&O dealer is a business and therefore would like to sell as many units as possible. There is no harm in asking. I know that some stores have a Special Offers on their store websites, which you may look at first. For example http://beostores.bang-olufsen.com/melbourne-collinsstreet/undefined1
