    Beosound 4000/Ouverture - Vs - Beocenter 2500/Beosystem 2500

How much technically advanced is the beosound 4000 when compared to original beocenter 2500. On the face they look same (CD/AM/FM/Tape) - with the exception of masterlink capabilities in 4000 versus 2 way communication of beocenter 2500.

I was wondering how advanced or better is the CD/Tape mechanism or output processing/performance in the 4000 - if in fact they improved these features.

Thanks and have a great weekend

Tape mechanism is basically the same.

BC 2500 used the CDM 4 (radial pickup)

BC 4000 used the CDM 12 (linear pickup)

Some slight changes in Radio Programming features and on the display.

I have both units.  I prefer CDM 4 as it is the better mechanism. Mine will play CDRWs. I also think the 2500 has better sounding DACs, but that's a personal preference.
