BL5 model year differences?
Hi there,
I have a chance to purchase a lightly used 2004 pair of BL5 and was wondering if they would give anything away in perfomance to a 2007+ build pair?
Thanks

Re: BL5 model year differences?
Not sure of any physical differences, but there was a SW revision at some point. This was around late 2004 from memory. All it was though as far as I know, was a revised set of values for the crossovers. Remember been in a dealers whilst they were updating a pair they had. It was when I was looking at buying my BV3. Purchased that in November 2004. Hope this helps.

Re: BL5 model year differences?
There are two BL5 versions on the market. The early one without pincode protection and the newer one with pincode. The newest sw of the early one is 1.62a as far as I know. The other is 2.62 (?). Both sound great! And their best protection is the weight I think.

Hope this helps

Re: BL5 model year differences?
The early models could not be synched with a sync cable if connected to non B&O equipment, even if advertised as such by B&O...
The early ones also feature a "proper" mains cable. Not the teeny-weeny usual B&O mains cable. Looks better IMHO, not sure if it makes a difference...

Re: BL5 model year differences?
Yes, the first models had 1.62. I have read in this forum that some sw-versions had trouble with calibration. The latest sw is 3.0 and works perfect!
