Well, I cannot anyone would have placed a bid on this. No PIN code and the serial number removed. So someone is going to part with over £250 for a BS3000 that will never work. As the title says though. Great paper weight, and it should keep your hands warm too.

Ouch, that's sizzling.
I wonder if there is any way to find out the serial number once the sticker has 'fallen' off?

Even if you can, you still should not be able to get the PIN from any dealer. Or at least that is my undrstanding of the system.

The seller sold it for £440 a few days ago ebay.co.uk but obviously the buyer walked away when he saw the serial number had been removed, as the seller has now added a picture of it. Pretty worthless I'd say? It's a shame that ebay doesn't let you see who's won items anymore as you could alert hapless buyers to dodgy stuff like this and the fact that they almost certainly won't be able to get it to work.....
Cheers

A few days ago I asked this seller if he could obtain the PIN code from the dealer (I also pointed out how useless it was without it) & he replied that he had 41 people watching it so he wasn't at all bothered. Nice.......

Many products have a second serial number sticker inside somewhere.
I have not had a 3000 in bits recently and cannot recall if this is fact for this product.
The unit probably is still traceable!!

Can't you bring up the serial number in service mode?
Never had to do it but i recall in a land far, far away a man mentioning something like that.. I could have been dreaming though!

I asked the seller if he would agree to have the item brought to an authorized B&O dealer or repairer for reading out the serial number embedded in the processor to confirm that the item is legal to sell.

Just had a wonderful reply back from Ebay.............NOT!!!!
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to report a seller who you suspect is
offering stolen goods on eBay.
The sale of stolen goods is forbidden on eBay because it's against the
law to sell stolen property. eBay strongly supports law enforcement
efforts to recover stolen property listed on its website. However, we
can only investigate such a serious allegation if it comes from the
police.
If you believe that an item on eBay may be a stolen item, please inform
your local police and ask them to get in touch with us. The
investigating officer can then use the contact details provided in our
Safety Centre:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/safetycentre/law_enforcement.html
We know your time is valuable and we appreciate you taking a moment to
express your concern to us. Thank you for helping to keep eBay a safe,
fun place to shop.
So it's not enough that I have reported it. Ebay expect me to go to my local Police Station and report it there too. What a joke., the last line of the reply did make me laugh.

The sale of stolen goods is forbidden on eBay because it's against the law to sell stolen property. We at eBay head office have degrees in stating the bleeding obvious, and it took three years of hard graft to come up with that conclusion. eBay strongly supports law enforcement efforts to recover stolen property listed on its website (as long as it doesn't take up much of our time). However, we can only investigate such a serious allegation if it comes from the Police.
So if you can get either Steward Copeland, Andy Summers - or preferably Sting (we like people to get stung) to drop us a line, we'll make sure we Do Do Do Do, Da Da Da Da absolutely nothing and make sure Every breath you take in reporting this is a wasted one. In fact, we'll Regatta de Blanc you at every opportunity.

Well it went for over £400 in the end. Someone has been well and truly stung.

Yes it was sold for £411 and the (dumb) purchaser left only neutral feedback saying it wasn't a BS3200 as described, (so, did he get it working?), which it isn't - it's a BS3000 isn't it! The seller replied with positive feedback but said that buyer didn't read listing.
WHAT A D*HEAD.
