    Bose speakers with beovision 8-40

Hi, I've got a beovision 8-40 and a friend is offering me a pair of bose cinemate speakers (http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-entertainment/home-cinema/speaker-systems/CineMate-GS/index.jsp). Before I get them I was curious if they'd even be compatible with my television. Any responses would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Mike

Nope, they are not compatible. You probably can use them by adding a Beolink Passive in between the BV8 and the speakers. Please note that you then only will be able to have stereo output. I.e no surround capabilities.

As far as I can see from the Bose manual there is an amplifier along with these speakers. Therefore it should be possible to connect this system to one of the powerlink sockets on the BV8-40 with a powerlink to composite adapter.

The manual for the Bose speakers says:

" If your TV provides both fixed (FIX) and variable (VAR)

audio output connectors, use the fixed connectors for

higher sound quality. Be sure to select Fixed in the

    setup menu of your TV."

If "fixed" mean line level, then it may work.

Too bad the BV8 has no digital out, because  that is an option that Bose speakers has.
