    Martin,

Besides the very large number of software updates which effected both versions and the introduction of "Adaptive Sound Technology", the only core changes provided by the mark 2 I can note from reviewing the spec are:-

    1. Formats provide 24 pictures per second
    2. FHD 1920 x 1080p
    3. There are two system module outputs now with the addition of an "F" connector for the US market

The Mark 1 version has "Type" numbers 9600 to 9612 and was sold between June 2006 and Dec 2008

The Mark 2 version has "Type" numbers 9615 to 9628 and was released around October 2008

    Regards Keith....

    Hi Keith,

I have Beovision 7-40 Mark III. It is a full-Hd Tv and I have software 5.08 which supports 24p. So I dont think (and dont hope) that your points is the differences between mark I and Mark II.

To my knowledge, the Mk III BV7 was released around the same time as the MK II BS3 is indicated above.

    Possibly not coincidence.

Is it possible to upgrade a MK1 to a MK2?

If yes, is it worth it?

    Keith Saunders:

Besides the very large number of software updates which effected both versions
and the introduction of "Adaptive Sound Technology" ...

The introduction of "Adaptive Sound Technology" required a substantial change in
the hardware of the Dolby Surround Module (DSM)

    - Mk1s must be retrofitted with a new DSM MK2 module and then the SW has to be
updated to offer "Adaptive Sound Technology"

    - Mk2s are already equipped with the new DSM MK 2 module - and may/will need an
update to use "Adaptive Sound Technology"

    - BeoVision 7-40 MK III/TV Type 9370-9384,9398 9456-9471 will need the DSM Mk2
hardware upgrade + SW update for using AST

    - BeoVision 7-55 Type 9479-9495 & BeoVision 7-40 MK IV Type 9439-9455 (or newer)
will need just a SW update for using AST

... depending on your listening/viewing-habits and the placement of your speakers

At present AST is part of /can be retrofitted to all BeoSystem 3 based TVs (BV7-40Mk3 & newer, BV7-55, BV4,  BV9)

Let's wait and see what next generation TV-chassis will have to offer.
