    MX4200 master link problem

    Main room:

    BV7-40 MkIV (with DVB-HD and HDR2) and BeoSound5

    Linkroom:

    MX4200

    Problem:

All 3 units connected via MasterLink cable, BV7 and BeoSound5 interacts as they should. But MX4200 only shows TV, will not start up v.mem. MX4200 are in option 6.

In service menu I can see the error ML CI - because of that I have changed all my junctions to be sure I have connected the ground wires correct.

I cannot clear the error even when the masterlink cable is disconnected from MX4200. Also tried a factory reset of the MX4200.

    Question:

Could it be that the ML module in my MX4200 has an error resulting in error ML CI?

    Any other suggestions?

    /MikaelB

    Re: MX4200 master link problem

    Assuming that:
    BV7-40 is in Opt 2,
    BSd5 is in Opt 0,
MX4200 in in Opt 6 and has been disconneted from power for min 1 min
    Masterlink cables are plugged in

    - BV MX 4200 stays connected to mains

    - disconnect BV 7-40 and BS 5 from mains for a minimum of 1 min

    - first reconnect BS 5 to power and let it boot up

    - then connect BV 7-40 to power

... and wait 1 min before using your remote

    Re: MX4200 master link problem

You assume right about the option settings.

I have now tried the following:

    - unpluged BV7 and BeoSound 5

    - Error code on MX4200 now says ML TD

    - Unpluged MasterLink Cable on MX4200

    - Error code on MX4200 now says ML CI

    - Insert MasterLink cable into MX4200

    - Leave MX4200 in stand-by

    - Plug in BeoSound 5 and wait til it has booted (stand-by indicator stops flashing)

    - Plug in BV7 and wait one minute

    - turned on BV7 analouge tv tuner and put it back in stand-by

    - Tried v.mem CD Radio on MX4200 - no response - tv still works on local tuner

    - Error code on MX4200 now says ML CI

Seems that the boot order did not help

I can supply a secondhand replacement circuit board if this results in a hardware problem you cannot resolve.

Thanks Neil, will get back to you if needed.

Anyone: Could it be anything other than a faulty ML circut borad in my MX4200?
