Hi,
It seems that the beolab 11 is officially launched and should be revealed on april, the 14th:
Bang & Olufsen A/S -
Company Announcement
Bang & Olufsen a/s launches BeoLab 11
|
BeoLab 11 is a new elegant subwoofer from Bang & Olufsen which combines excellent bass performance, intriguing design and unorthodox placement possibilities.
BeoLab 11 is composed of two identical loudspeaker cabinets, with baffles facing each other. The new subwoofer provides a significant addition to the bass experience in any small to medium loudspeaker setup, adding low frequencies from 300 Hz and down.
The unique acoustic design of BeoLab 11 allows it to be placed on the floor, in a corner, or mounted on the wall. In fact, due to its minimal vibrations, it is one of the very few subwoofers in the world that can be mounted on a wall. And with the sculptural design of BeoLab 11, you will want to put it on display, instead of hiding it behind a sofa. The outer shells are made of aluminium and are available in silver and white.
The launch of BeoLab 11 does not affect Bang & Olufsen's expectations for the current financial year.
BeoLab 11 can be experienced together with BeoVision 10-46 and Adaptive Sound Technology at an event for the national and international lifestyle press, which takes place in DR Byen in Copenhagen Wednesday 14 April at 2.00 PM CET.

The beovision 10-46 should also include the AST. Any ideas ofthe prices for that Beolab 11.
Cheers, Marc.

tournedos:
One channel only. The two drivers are run in the same phase - which actually becomes opposing phase as they are positioned facing each other - so it cancels out most mechanical vibration.
Great! Now only if I could go listen to one

macjonny1:So is there any advantage
Looks better, cheaper, smaller, less vibration, metal, but less powerful (which can be an inconvenient or an advantage : small room, listening to music rather than dolby surround movies).

Thanks for the reply. My room is about 6 meters x 4 meters so relatively small. I am currently using BL6000s as my surrounds and unfortunately don't live anywhere close to a B&O dealer so I won't be able to listen to the BL11. I use it mainly for movies and video games but have it set up for listening for music as well with an audiophile quality turntable.

This does seem to better fit into a stereo setup. It will probably replace the BL2 in a BL8000+BL2 setup.

I wonder if it will add much to the BL7.1 in movies. The BL7.1 goes down to 37 Hz, the BL11 to 33 Hz. Will that be noticable?
I do want one though, because it just looks so stunning :)
