MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

    Hi All,

I have a MX6000 TV-set (type 7863 ETS SW2.0) and I bought a BEO4 for it. Now I have troubles getting the sound adjusted. I have added V.SETUP to the BEO4 and now I can adjust the picture, but when BASS appears on the screen of the BEO4, nothing happens. It won't respond to the GO button. If I press the arrow buttons, it either switches channel or the volume goes up and down. This is also the case for TREBLE and LOUDNESS.

I have read that also A.SETUP has to be added, but then another strange thing happens; A.SETUP won't appear on the BEO4 screen when I press LIST. I assumed that I did something wrong, so I tried to add it again, but now it is out of the list of to be added items and added to the list of items to be removed. So it is indeed added, but it won't appear.

Then there is a another peculiar thing; When I press MENU I only get two items to choose from: PROGRAM LIST and SETUP, no SOUND and no PICTURE. My B&O dealer tells me that the menu on my TV points out that the TV set was meant for BEOLINK 1000, but on the back of the TV it says MX6000-BEO4 and according to the previous owener, the TV set has always worked with a BEO4. I first had a BEOLINK 1000 with the "MENU" button, but the TV did not respond correctly to the buttons on that remote control either, that's why I bought the BEO4.

What is the correct trick to do it?

    Any help is much appreciated,

    Regards, Bart.

I think it depends on the type of MX6000 you have. On my LX6000, which is the same as an early MX6000, using V.Setup and then pressing LIST brings up the bass treble and Loudness functions which then respond on screen to the up and down button on the Beo4. The other method is to press menu and scroll to Sound on the TV if it is a later one. The second sound menu has bass and treble on it.

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

    Thanks Peter.

My MX6000 is a MX6000-BEO4 one (is says so on the back of the set),  but I do not have the option "sound" when I press "MENU".

I do have the option V-setup in my BEO4, but when I choose either Treble, Bass or Loudness, I get no response from any key: it responds to neither arrow or up/down keys. I also get no response on the TV screen either confirming that I selected bass, treble or loudness.

    It really puzzles me.

    Regards Bart.

If you press MENU and select SETUP, what do you get on the screen?

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

    After MENU=>SETUP I get:

    Timer sound: OFF

    Power LINK: OFF

    AV1: V.Tape-1

    AV2: CDV

    S-VHS: Off

Same as my LX6000 - should work with the V.Setup button!

    Thanks Ralf,

I have no SOUND option under V.Setup. I have however a SOUND option on the 'same level' as V.Setup (both directly under the LIST button), but that SOUND option only lets me choose between mono and stereo sound.

I will check my Beovision MX7000 (probably same age as your MX6000) this week-end, probably tomorrow evening and post this here.

    Sorry for the little delay.

I have a MX6000-Beo4-IT with software 3.1, and the sound (and picture) selections are on the main menu level between program list and setup. Works perfectly fine with either Beo4 or Beolink 1000.

Must be some version 2.x related trick...

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

My set is a MX6000-Beo4, type 7863 ETS with SW2.0. With this software the SOUND and PICTURE options are indeed missing on the main menu.

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

I flipped through a number of user manuals on site, and comparing the manuals of LX6000 (BL1000 version) and MX6000 (Beo4 version) seems that those menu options would be missing from the BL1000 versions of the TV sets. On those, sound settings are called up with SOUND, and picture commands of course with PICTURE.

Whether those are on the main LIST level of the Beo4 or under V.SETUP is probably a version issue on the Beo4 - mine are the latter way. Have you tried simply listing to SOUND and then pressing GO multiple times, which apparently should cycle through the settings? (sorry if you've said that already Smile ) I already verified that SOUND+GO definitely sends the same code as SOUND on BL1000.

Beo4 version can be checked by pressing MENU+GO together, then listing through the items. The one I have at hand is EE 3.2 and SW 3.0.

BTW I would never trust anything that previous owners say Laughing

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

SOUND gives me only the option between Mono and Stereo.

MENU+GO results in EE 4.2 and SW 4.4.

    It's quite a riddle...

I am sure your MX reacts like my LX. When you go into V.Setup and then press LIST to scroll through the options, if you press GO when for instance BASS is listed, do you get BASS displayed at the top left of the screen? Which up and down buttons are you using? It should be the top and bottom of the diamond, not the volume control.

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

That's exactly the problem; when I press GO when BASS is displayed on the BEO4, I get no response on the TV screen. If I press up and down, the channel switches.

    Regards,  Bart.

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

Same reaction on my tv...BUT solution is as follows:

    LIST until V.SETUP, then GO

LIST until SOUND, then GO SEVERAL TIMES!! First  GO shows VOLUME, second BALANCE etc. !!!

LIST until S.STORE or STORE, then GO.

    Hope this is it!

    PS: EE/SW 3.2/3.0 on my Beo 4.

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

Thanks a lot Ralf, I really appreciate it, but unfortunately no succes.

I have no SOUND 'under' V.SETUP. Only 'next' to V.Setup; I mean when I press LIST I can choose between "Stand, Sound, V.Setup" (I programmed it like this).

And I can press as many times SOUND as I want, but I only get TV 1 Mono, TV 1 Stereo, TV 1 Mono, TV 1 Stereo, TV 1 Mono and so on.

    Regards, Bart.

But when you press LIST until V.SETUP then GO then LIST again, what are the options appearing?

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

Then I get the following options:

TUNE; PICTURE; STORE; CLEAR; BASS; TREBLE; LOUDNSS; S. STORE.

If I press either BASS; TREBLE OR LOUDNESS, nothing happens; no response on the TV screen.

The adjustments for Picture (STAND, BRILLIANCE; COLOUR; CONTRAST), however, do give me the responses on top left of the screen I would have expected.

    Bart.

    Strange... I got

TUNE; PICTURE; SOUND(!!!); STORE; CLEAR; BASS; TREBLE; LOUDNSS; S. STORE.

    Same here.

No ideas left.... Maybe you got a Beolink 1000 somewhere??

...I just exchanged my Beolink 1000 with somebody's BEO4 because my MX6000 was supposed to work with a BEO4.

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

Last chance: set the config of the Beo4 4 to MX.

This can be done like adding commands: standby+list - then config? mx.

Sounds clever - just tried it on mine and it removed almost all my options so I put it back to avant! Will be interested to hear if it works though!

Re: MX6000 with Beo4; Cannot adjust BASS, TREBLE and LOUDNESS

I had it adjusted to MX, but again no success. Avant or MX; it makes no difference at all .

Is it possible to load different software to the BEO4? It seems that if I would have EE 3.2 and SW 3.0 it should work.

    Regards Bart.
