I had BC2 up on a wooden cabinet on its standard feet, as soon as i moved it to move furniture it has that electronic vibration when i touch its facia, what on earth has happened and what stops this?? If i touch the metal on the BeoLab next to it, or hold my hand on the socket unit, the vibration from the head unit goes away.

I really want to know what is going on and why it occured from simply moving the BC2. All the connections remain the same...

That vibration is totally harmless. Try turning the mains plug of the system 180°, it might go away...

My wife's recently aquired Beosound 3 has the same effect. Plug in the power adapter, and over maybe 10 seconds a tiny electronic vibration builds-up and can be felt if the casing is touched gently. Turning over the two pin mains plug on the power adapter makes no difference.

Dave's original question is still interesting. Why would it suddenly start if not present when the equipment was new or in a different position? (Or was it always there but not noticed???)

I guess we've never heard or agreed on the real reason behind this feeling, which is actually there on most B&O kit and other similar products that has exposed aluminum. Anyway the amount of current needed to feel the vibration is tiny, and many people don't feel it at all (or at least claim not to, having been loud disbelievers in electrical allergy and similar stuff...). I believe in Dave's case it might be affected by the conductivity of the surface, furniture and floor area the BC2 is sitting on. It takes very little to ground the electric field and the feeling goes away.

In any case, it's not the least bit dangerous to the user nor the kit.

Yeah, I feel it on a lot of stuff too. On my BS3, sometimes on the aluminum bezel of my BV5... Kitchen apparatus etc... Not to worry.

Yes it is present, yes it is harmless, but why is it happenning after it was fine before i moved it. I don't like the feeling, and clearly in this case it isn't supposed to be present. Other alunimium parts carry a current, but they are parts that aren't designed to be touched!

Thanks Graham, well it was present when i first plugged it in, then around the time that i attached the AM loop aerial, it disappeared, and i no longer felt tingley fingers after adjusting the volume... the current came back when i moved the head unit, and has stayed despite the fact i've moved the unit back into plce, i am totally miffed and hope that someone has a lightbulb moment that helps me resolve this BeoCenter 2 issue...

I'm at the point where i will be calling th dealer, it's misbehaving in other areas too. sometimes will just randomly frezze while loading a disc, and the disc had to be reloaded... then there is the bizarre intermittent click sound it makes when the wings close.

I'm afraid it's impossible to say "why" over the forum, and "very strong" can mean a very different thing for different people. I'm sure it annoys you Dave, but I'm still not sure it would annoy me enough to do anything about it.

If it's not too much work, I'd try temporarily restoring the previous setup. That way you would at least know if the effect is environmental or if something really happened to the BC2.

To give you an idea, i have pins and needles in my finger tip after touching the unit, and it kinda stings.

OK Dave, I believe we are not talking about the usual thing then... sounds more like you might have an electrical problem either with your house wiring or the BC2.

Unfortunately I don't know much about the BC2. Does it have an earthed mains connection? Does the head unit get its power over the umbilical cord or does it have a separate mains plug? Do you have the plug(s) in the same sockets as before?

Anything else that might have changed in the same time when you moved things around, no matter how distant to this issue it might appear at first glance (lighting fixtures in different sockets, speaker power, new speakers, etc)?

It turns out that having the television (any television) connected to the buildings roof antenna eliminates the current that the BC2 is carrying. This works as soon as the BC2 is connected to the television, in SOME way (AUX i.e).

Everything that is connected (in my case it's the beovision, beolabs, beocenter) now has NO current when touched. Amazing...

I wasn't exaggerating on how strong the current was, my fingers are very sore from the amount of times i got a small electric shock. The TV antenna especially, (rabbit ears) was holding a nasty current, OUCH!

No idea about the insulation, the building i am in, is from the 70's, and doesn't appear to have had much / if any maintenance since its hey day.
