    VX7000 type 4587 - Play's ok but!!!!

I have this VX7000 and I've had go at lubricating the guides but it still makes a low pitched whirring sound when FF (though picture search function is ok) or RW (though picture search function is ok with most tapes). When ejecting tapes I have to pull the lid off to remove the tapes.

As well, depending on the tape it goes into standby mode when FF or RW is selected.

Everything else is ok, ie play, tuner, record etc.

btw I have searched the forum and came across http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/p/24191/182188.aspx#182188 but there are no clear answers.

Could be the capstan motor, although they are not so troublesome as on the '7000 as they were on the '5000/5500!

Some common probs with these machines are:

The transport clutch base assembly,a special part only available from B&O.

The turntables. These use photo reflective rotation sensors that become worn and send confusing signals to the computer, particularly in wind and search modes. The safety circuit of the machine will cause it shut down.

The loading gear could be cracked as mentioned in another post.

Good machines though, made for B&O by Hitachi, but enhanced to B&O spec.

    Regards,

    Nick
