    Beocenter 2000

    Hello,

I have recently obtained a Bang & Olufsen, Beocenter 2000 record player.

The unit is in a good general condition and plays fine (and comes with both speakers).

I am new to this kind of stuff and was wondering if anyone new what it would be worth and the best way to go about selling it (i.e. Ebay, private dealer, etc).

I am based in York, UK and would ship at cost nationwide.

    Thanks in advance

    Richard

Afraid you have stumbled over a B&O oddity. The Beocenter 2000 was actually a Japanese built music center with very little B&O content at all. The best part of it is the record player which is based on a B&O deck and the cartridge should be a MMC20S. If this is in good condition, the cartridge is worth up to £50 on eBay, though £25 in an unknown state would be more common. The Beocenter itself is commonly seen at car boot fairs reaching about £10. I would sell it on eBay - some good pictures may induce someone to want it - I have seen them reach quite high prices though I dare say the buyer may regret his purchase later on. This was not a high point either in design or in materials used, which are low grade plastics and fake wood mainly. However it did offer a cheap entry into owning a B&O product which is what it was designed to do.

Cheers Peter! I will take some classy shots tonight and list it on Ebay :)

    Hey,

Just got back home and it is actually a Beocenter 2002, type 2101 unit!

Does this make much of a difference at all?

    Cheers

What kind of speakers do you have for the system?

    Re: Beocenter 2000

The only difference from the Beocenter 2000 to the Beocenter 2002 is
that the 2002 has support for metal cassette tapes.
I wouldn't be surprised in some people would think this a bit overkill for a deck in this
position but many owners of Beocenter 2000/2002 actually like them very much.
As Peter says, this is an entry model and it is doing a fine job as that, in providing
fairly decent looks for a 1980's combination unit and also a very
pleasant sound as long as you don't compare it to a (real) Bang & Olufsen unit...
