All these powered speakers and equipment beg the question on surge protection.

I've looked at protected sockets, and external (ugly) protectors behind the speakers... im thinking of a whole house system like this http://www.smarthome.com/4861.html  

 Does anyone have any experience with something like this??  Would this give sufficient protection??

Interestingly, I had a rather expensive anti surge 'protecting my B&O and following a lightening strike it took it all out!

My insurers seem to indicate that largely they dont seem to offer that much protection.

I have therefore invested in an isotec system which is very sensitive to transients
