I'd have the lower setup, but that's simply because I hate that "triangles dripping off of things" design concept...

i would definately go for the top one and i don't think that you would regret it for a minute. i actually saw the bv7-55 the other day and i think its one of the nicest looking tvs out there right now.

I'm not so sure. I think it visually overpowers the Lab 3's. The "BV10" looks a lot less domineering.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

I agree with Puncher, but I think you should upgrade to 9s rather than downgrade to a BV-10!

One other point - I note you have a Beocenter 9500 or 9300. The BV10 will not work with a Beolink converter so will not link with your audio in a link system.

Are there any more TV's in the current range not backward compatible like this?

    The BV8 for one.

    Re: bv 7-55 vs bv10-46

I don't no that some of the new TV were not compatible with the beolink converter(1611)!!!!!!

so now I have the choice between the bv7-55 or a bv9 second hand......

I would have the BV9 every time! Especially if fitted with some of the extra modules. The other advantage of either the 9 or 7 is that they can act as a video master and have timers built in which the BV10 lacks. This is quite a disadvantage and relies on one having a suitable audio master or a Beocenter 2.

Get him to check - he will confirm it! I imagine it will have effects in link rooms.

It must be the data sent in the link is different. I do note that the BV10 does not send information to displays on speakers whereas the BV5 does for instance. I guess the chassis is missing some of the more complex features.

I see the issue! They have just upgraded the software this weekend! Software build 109b allows use of the beolink converter . The have also added a game mode and a DTV play timer - all improvements worth having.

Panic over. I thought B&O were discontinuing MCL compatibility. ...But why was something so essential overlooked when the TV was introduced? I assume it's an expensive dealer visit to update the software? If these improvements are "worth having" they should surely have been available 'out of the box' rather than a few months later as an afterthought. Thankfully my Avant and LX seem to have been properly designed  at the factory.
