Forum - Back to the Old School.. for now
As promised - we listened.
The old style Forum is back for now due to popular demand, but we will still be looking to launch the new style Forum in the near future, albeit with layout changes.
The new Hawaii theme contains updates that are essential to keep us 'cutting edge' - something we take great pride in, and have paid good money to be - but we do realise that the layout wasn't perfect.
Keith has kindly offered to write hundreds (if not thousands) of lines of coding in the background for us to be able to upgrade to the Hawaii theme whilst still retaining the general look and feel of the old (and now current again) site. It's a testament to his work ethic and professionalism that he will not settle for anything less than all of our members being completely happy.
So, we're back to where we were for now - and Keith will attack the coding in the little time he does get free. Thank you Keith.
As we were then - and yes, we know - the adverts will be shuffled around in due course
Kindest Regards
The BeoWorld Team

Re: Forum - Back to the Old School.. for now
I really liked the new style, Lee. And everything was working for me, as on this layout I have frequent bugs...
You know, people who are not satisfied by something write more on forums than people that are satisfied... So for a small number of people complaining, there may have been a thousand people who had seen this update as a good thing... So maybe you listened to a minority by doing this... But you're the boss!
PS : why not a good old poll?

Well, I am all for change...
But... no question (and it is not familiarity) the navigation was is much better!
Hopefully Hawaii can eventually be duct taped together and we can move forward.
Thanks Keith!

Thanks Lee, you know it makes sense!
I do understand your predicament but the new layout was not good for established members to use, just think how prospective new members must feel in that environment.
Any idea what the use stats were while the new format was in use?

Re: Forum - Back to the Old School.. for now
I do realise that people like to moan, and if i don't see any validity in their moans i politely ignore them. However, in this case i did see their point - as did Keith and most members of the moderating team.
Personally, the Hawaii theme was very smooth and is definitely a step forward. The way it works is also very slick and bug-free, but that one single 'landing page' is something we just couldn't get our heads round.
I see the different forum section as a huge bungalow with 19 rooms in it - all with a different party happening. The 'overview' let's you effectively 'lift the roof off' and look at every room from above - then you decide which party looks best to join.
With the new forum - you have to go into every room first.. time consuming and in my view a backward step. So, a combination of the old and new is where we are best placed i think..
Page hits were well down when we changed - people weren't 'going for a wander' through the different topics so to speak.

Don't know what Keith has done, if anything, but it is now flying for me!
