    MX3500 + Beosat LM functionality

I know its old and obsolete.... but how do I access the satellite functions in an MX3500 fitted with what I assume to be a Beosat LM?

I tried Sat, Shift then Text as stated in the LM user manual

Tried Sat then Go To as stated in the MX3500 manual

Tried Sat then Menu as stated in the Beosat AV manual

    Does it need enabling somehow?

Oh, and the terminal is a Beolink 1000 Mk 4

It should be just Satellite, then the channel No etc. Allthough you can see a module is fitted,it may have been disabled to allow the connection of an external satellite box such as Sky etc.

If you are technical,I can send you some fitting notes for the module, and you can check it out.

Analogue satellite broadcasts are still availble from Europe, until 2012  I gather, but you will need a 60cm dish for these, and ordinary "Sky" type dish won't do.

    Regards,

    Nick

Nick is correct you should just need to press SAT. Had a few MX's with these fitted all but one had been disconnected.

It sounds like it's been disconnected then... All as I get is a black screen when pressing sat.

The technical notes would be nice, thanks. Is it just a case of plugging it back in?

Ben, it will show a black sreen if there is no input.
Press Sat, then on the black screen press menu and see if you get anything.

Thats what I was doing originally.... pressing the combinations of buttons to try to get the menu to show after I had already pressed Sat.

Would the Sat button do nothing if the module was disconnected?

I think from memory,if the sat kit is disconnected, you can program one of the Scarts for an external sat kit.The Beosat RX would work with this set too.

Yes,the LM kit connects via several multi connectors that fit into labled sockets.

I have a spare working kit here, fitting notes and service manual.

Re: MX3500 + Beosat LM functionality

    Ok,

I cracked it open to take a look. There are only three of the multiplugs occupied (red circles) and several with nothing connected, maybe 6 or 7 connectors.

If there is only meant to be the three connectors in use, then clearly there is a problem, which I don't think i'd would bother trying to fix... with analogue satellite being turned off soon, I don't think it's worth it.
