My new Beolab 9 and The old Beolab 2 - Questions About keeping The Beolab 2 and others

Hey there , I Got today my new Beolab 9 Speakers.  Arrived like 2-3 hours ago!.... They will be  replacing my Beolab 3  front speakers....

So My setup Is as Following .....    Beovision 7 mk3   + beolab 7-2 Front speaker  +beolab 2 Sub +  Beolab 9 left and right front speakers +  Beolab 3 Rear right and left speakers....

Well my Questions are the following ....  Should i Keep the Beolab 2 Sub in this setup ? or maybe move it in some other room? As in Is it better to have the bass being reproducted from the Beolab 9  or the beolab 2?

and Secondly   Is there a huge difference As centre Speaker  Between the Beolab 7-2  and beolab 7-4?As i tried playing some Blue rays and some Full hd Content  And the Dialogues seemed to be a bit to 'Low' To hear in comparison with all the mids highs and bass...Is this problem solved with a beolab 7-4 ?

And maybe its Worth puting those beolab 3 speakers in the same setup to go for 7.1 Surround instead of 5.1 ?

Let me hear ur Thoughts ;)

Do a quick search here on bw. There was a pretty recent thread on this. I would happily discuss however it would make me very late for work!

I think its better to change to 7-4

I have the same speakersetup as yours and BV9 but without BL2

    look at this:http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/31736.aspx

I'm son't think the BL2 will do you much good.

For pure esthetic  reasons alone I would exchange the 7-2 for a 7-4.

Hmmm Interesting indeed !  Well ill just keep the beolab 2 then for that extra 'punch' xD

Well about the 7-2 and 7-4 is there a huge difference in 5.1 as centre speaker? like worth going for the 7-4?   are the dialogues indeed more clear etc?

In terms of transient response and time-distortion, the BeoLab 9s are streets ahead of the BeoLab 2, which is more to do with the use of passive radiators in the BeoLab 2 than anything.

The BeoLab 2 is a phenomenal subwoofer for movies because of it's raw volume levels, but for music, a fast, tight subwoofer is required, and this is not the BeoLab 2's strong point to say the least.

I would never use a BeoLab 2 with BeoLab 9s.

The Beolab 7.4 speaker is a mono speaker designed to be used as a centerspeaker, the other 7.x speakers are designed as full range speakers that also cover front left&right (because of this fact, the speaker is wider than the screen itself).

I would keep the BL2 and use it ONLY in movies as the additional punch will complete your setup.

Don't use the Beolab 2 for music in your setup! ... okok..... if you have to, check the settings as it can ruin the Beolab 9s performance!

I have just got my Beolab 2 today and its amazing. Working with a Beovision 7-40 Mk3 with a Beolab 7.4, a pair of 8000's on the front, and 6000's at the rear.

Have spent most of the morning watching Transformers 2(for the kidsWhistle) Agree about music though.

A Beovision 10-40 in black and red fret on order, Beo4, Beo6, many A8's, a pair of white and yellow Form 2's, Beocom 4, 28 inch Avant RF DVD, Apple TV and a wife that loves this stuff as much as i do!

My dealer have asked at B&O if it could be possible to disable the Sub when you select speaker mode 2; I would prefer NOT using the BL2 when listening to music on the BL9's. But I just love the BL2 when watching movies.
In speaker mode 1 the sub is disabled as standard.

But I guess the priority at B&O is, if only one dealer ask for this feature, then it won't be prioritised Sad

    There is something about B&O.....

    Hi

Try setting your frontspeakers as Beolab 5´s in the tv menu. As your tv will then think you have 5´s connected with inbuild subs, it will probably NOT send any low freq to the sub when listning to speaker 2. Be aware though, that it might not either when using speaker 5, dont quite know that.
