My quest for the best iPhone earset

    Hi everybody,

I've just finished writing my review of 3 pairs of earphones with mic for iPhone (in french...) :
    -Bang & Olufsen Earset 3
    -Atomic Floyd HiDef Drum
    -Klipsch S4i

And the winner is... no, not B&O!! Yes, it's Atomic Floyd's HiDef Drum... A little less natural, not as comfortable for everyone as the B&O, but better for an everyday life of music+phone (B&O keeps the award of comfort and natural sound, so are better for people who use the earset more for a phone use.)... And the finish is just incredible : bulletproof kevlar on wires, all metal, hand made (in China). It doesn't have the sophistication of B&O, but it's a brand to follow.

As it's an english brand, I wanted to know if someone has also tried them here!

Here is my article in french :
    http://www.diisign.com/2010/02/grand-comparatif-a-la-recherche-du-casque-ideal-pour-iphone/

And here in robotic english (Google translation) :

    http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.diisign.com%2F2010%2F02%2Fgrand-comparatif-a-la-recherche-du-casque-ideal-pour-iphone%2F&sl=fr&tl=en

Bonus : the frequency response graph (made by an independant laboratory) of the AirJax (an open type earbud, not available with iPhone remote currently) : B&O are still the best for high frequencies (which gives a more detailed impression), but are not the best for the entire range. That's what I feeld when I listened to them.

Can it be possible that Atomic Floyd HiDef Drum is available for sale in Europe only?

... And here is the frequency response graph of the HiDef drums (compared to Shure SE310, but you can compare to the B&O as the curves are the same)

From my point of view a customized ear plug makes a big difference! For the ones I purchased recently this was an extra service and compared to the standard one size (or in this case 3) fits it all a huge difference. Also a interesting experience to have this gum type of thing in your head they fill up our ears with during the fitting processStick out tongue

I bought the MMX100 from Beyerdynamic, not bad with he standard plugs, but fantastic with the customized ones.

Kawo : I didn't mention that my quest for the best earset was limited to headphone with a mic... For 200€ or less!

Opinions are subjective : when I say that the Beolab 3 are the best speaker/amp for this price, a lot of people agree... But when the winner has not a B&O logo on it, it's more difficult to accept Big Smile

By the way... I hope that this new competition in the now trendy "audio chic" segment will motivate B&O to improve the earset 3, or to come with a new set!!

So I should give them a try!! I've never heard of them before, but it seems that they don't reach B&O and Atomic Floyd standard for build quality...
