    Beocord 9000 conversion?

Everyone knows that the Beocord 9000 is a fantastic tape deck but it somehow, doesn’t look right with its mixture of silver and black keys.  I now have a spare BC9000 which is working extremely well and I want to do the unthinkable and reconfigure it to match my treasured System 8000.  All I have to do is change the dark keys, 0-9, CE and GO to the silver ones that were used on the Beocord 800x series.

Question: Does anyone have a set of spare keys for the Beocord 8xxx that will replace the dark keys on the BC9000.  I will gladly purchase these from you or even swap them for the black keys that I have – your choice.

Is anybody is interested and able to help me with this project?

    Regards

    Geoff

    Geoff,

I might be able to help and I am interested in going to black keys! We might have a perfect fit.

Let me see what I have!

    Geoff,

My apologies... been one of those weekends!

Below are the keys from my BC8000... intact and in good shape.

Let me know if they are OK...

    Thanks Jaff, they look great.

Below is the pic of the keys that I have just taken out of the BC9000, they are in pretty good nick as well.

If you are happy to proceed with the swap, PM me with your postal address and I will send you mine.

    Many thanks

    Geoff

    Re: Beocord 9000 conversion?

The new silver keys have arrived courtesy of Jeff - Burantek and I was quick to install them in the BC 9000.  By the time that I closed up the box, I was already very pleased with the results.  I personally think that the BC9000 looks much better and sophisticated.  Photo enclosed.

I will post some photos of my 8000 system with the different Beocords and you can decide for yourselves.

    Re: Beocord 9000 conversion?

Finally, the modified Beocord 9000 with all silver keys, in my opinion, a solid improvement and a lot of fun experimenting with it.

Good one Martin, Photoshop might have been easier but the result would have been less satisfying.

It's just that the two photos are not just identical - they are I-DEN-TI-CAL apart from the 9000-knobs.
Not a shadow changed, not a thing moved, even the camera at the exact same spot.
Well done anyways and definitely proving what a site like this with members like this can do.  Yes - thumbs up

    Martin

EDIT: I will have to correct myself here - just found that the second Beocord 9000 moved...

    Re: Beocord 9000 conversion?

Yes Martin, the photos are fairly identical.  The easiest way to do it was to set the camera up on the tripod and just swap the beocords over without connecting up the cables.  Only took a few minutes.  I am already getting used to the beocord in silver only and the mixed keys are starting to look a bit odd!!  Now I need something else to experiment with??

    Re: Beocord 9000 conversion?

Sure, why not put a CD player into a Beocord casing to match the design ?
This is something that I've heard much about but never saw a nice finished result.
A datalink CD player would of course be preferred.
That should keep you busy for a couple of hours.  Laughing
