Looking at the success of Tivoli Audio (and the countless cheap plastic imitations), there's definitely a market.
It would have to include
- an excellent FM radio (DAB as an option, seems most of the world doesn't need it)
- WiFi for network radio
- good internal speakers (it was done with the early Beolits, so should be no problem now?)
- a memory card slot + mp3 player with decent capabilities, none of the silly 2GB max or bit rate limitations
- clock radio capabilities
- B&O remote control
- an aux connector. Somebody will cry out "an iSomething dock!" but I don't believe in the longevity of that, and there would be many design constraints
I don't like the idea of Masterlink. That would make it just another link speaker and somewhat nullify the point of local sources.
Dunno how much space for any real innovation there would be left as all the above bits and pieces have been done (although separately) a number of times, but if it was executed with B&O quality and good design, it might be another great entry product.
