I had a Beovision L2800 with the video remote look alike at first.
Then it got to be a LX5500 and my first experience with my Beolink 1000MK3 was wondering why it was dead. The batteries were new and fully loaded. Quicky to the store and it got fixed. Its been working ever since and so has the LX.
When I got my Beosystem 6500 there was an Beo4 MKII included and it took a while to get adjusted. I find the Beo4 less simple for basic instructions than the Beolink 1000. Sound adjustments? Easy hit sound on the Beolink 1000 several times until you find the spot you want to change. On a Beo4? list, speaker several times
Anyway I love both. I have set up the Beo4 for Beovision AV9000. It came without a Beo4 so its perfect. I use the Beolink 1000 in the"office" with the Beosystem 6500 and its the perfect remote design, ease of use, never outdated, tons of options to use even though its old. I guess around 1989 the same as the LX. I even go with MCL 2047 xtra speakerkits which is great and I do plan on LC2 at some point. The Beolink 1000 can handle it.
Its not as clumsy as a MCP6500. I got one and it has its place in the kitchen. To big to move around. Then again more reliable than the Beolink 7000 these days and that includes the Beolink 1000.

It's the AV Terminal. The two buttons on the top switch between audio and video mode (and the display in between shows it).
IMHO all of these (and the Beo4) are a little bit tall for comfortable one hand operation; you'll need a flexible thumb to make it without altering your grip...

No, it is the AV Terminal. Before the launch of the Beolink 1000, you had the Video Terminal (video commands ony), the Audio Terminal (audio commands only) and the AV Terminal (both video and audio with this small screen above showing whether you were using video or audio commands). All three were replaced by the Beolink 1000 one or two years later.

Interesting! I had not seen one before.
Just read up in the PRODUCTS section... I do have terminal versions (the "short" ones) and did not realize they predate the official BL1000... I always just classified them as BL1000's... Learn something new every day!

If it was to be in a rank then it would be for me:
1st Beolink 5000
2nd Beolink 1000
3rd Beo4
4th Beolink 7000
5th Beo5
Beolink 5000 is the absolute remote with the two way communication. Beolink 1000 for the simplicity it provides for everyday use. Beo4 good for the link. Beolink 7000 a bigger version of Beolink 5000 but more futuristic and great design as well!
Beo5. I use it very daily and really handful when it comes to using many non B&O devises. However, it is bit difficult with the touch screen.
Sorry if I upset someone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BL1000 is a great remote!
The best of the handhelds is BL5000! IMHO.

The BeoLink 5000 was a cool remote when it worked properly. The problem was that they were very fragile and the LCD display was prone to problems. The Beo4 was a nice replacement because of greater durability, but the loss of 2-way control was a downgrade to yesteryear technology. I still have my BeoLink 7000, but after replacing its board, not all the functions work as it once did.

BL1000 (family) rules!
Fascinating! :) I'm so glad i brought this up.
Thanks Peter, the B&O dealer here said that the BL5000 is no longer available, so they sent me the BL1000. I guess it's too late now. Bit of a shame really. I really really liked the 5000. :( Why did they have to steal it, i do not know
Jonathon, i have no idea how much it's worth, but it's brand new, and i don't have a use for it with my B&o gear... and i haven't tried to use it as a mallet yet either!

I vote Beo1 (though I have never used one), it just seemed impractical. For those product(s) which I have used: Beolink 5000.
Any votes for the DVD1?
Sal
Love B&O, but no longer addicted.

DVD1's are fine when they don't have the picture freeze problem. B&O integration worth a lot but they were (along with the V8000) vastly overpriced.
Beolink 1000 is better for teletext functions on earlier TV's. It also has the advantage of been able to toggle between audio and video volume and mute control without using the source buttons. I really miss that with the beo4.
The 1000 is by far the better back scratcher.

Can I start an "I dont care" team ?
Doesnt really matter to me. I usually just get up off my fat *** and change the channel or adjust the volume myself.

I agree that BL1000 and Beo4 are a bit "tall," but I think both are great remotes. I own several of each.
I just can't get over how many of you hate the Beo1. I actually own a Beo1, and use it for a purpose for which it was not originally intended. I think it's great. Compare to the Apple Remote used for the Ipod, AppleTV, and Imacs which many have described as brilliant, and you get why I'm puzzled.
The Beo1 for simple navigation is a really cool product. I never liked the BL5000 and I never got the opportunity to buy a BL7000.
My vote for worst B&O product goes not to a remote control, not even the delicate 5000 (owned one of those too, for my ex 2-way 9500), but to...
Beolink Wireless.

On most Beovisions, this is impossible! There are not any volume or channel controls on the set.
My least favourite remote was always the Beolink 5000 (I don't count the Beo1 as it is so useless as to hardly qualifying as a remote! ). The 5000 promised so much but is one of only a few B&O products where you need to read the manual! The 7000 managed to be far easier to use.

I love the Beolink 1000, i have had 4 and all of them could survive everything! Sadly, we sold our old beovisions (2 LX2502 and an LX2802-N, great picture on all of them), so now I only have one BL1000 left to control my Beosystem 5500.
Well, I don't use it daily, the MCP5500 is easier to use in my opinion.

Oh, and I think that the worst piece of B&O is those japaneese beocenters (2100, 2200 and 4000) and in particular the x-series of speakers that fit the tuner. horrible!
Opposite, B&O has designed pretty clever stuff. the tangential record players, fingertouch, 2-way remote communication, great design and electronic control well before the rivals.
