The worst B&O I'VE ever owned

After receiving a Beolink 1000 i now can easily say that this is the worst piece i've ever owned.

I can barely think of one good thing about this remote, and that is, that it's built well.

Using this remote is like a punishment of some sort (compared to the Beo4) and it's really awkward, does anybody actually like the BL1000??

I agree, best remote I ever saw.
Nice build quality, nice feel, beautiful design, wonderful to use, shoot in any direction - even around corners, lots of functions...

Why are you so disappointed with it ?

One of the best remote. Of course the Beo4 is more adapted to use with ML products, while the Beolink1000 is more adapted to use with MCL products.

You walked right into that one. The Beolink 1000 is a favourite of many B&O fans. For worst remote, try the Beo1!

Fantastic remote - indestructible - also very logical once you have learned the commands.

I have to admit the earlier models are highly awkward to use with menu based products. I never remember what is up/down and what is sideways...

But all is forgotten once you try to use a Beo4 in the dark for anything but the most common functions! Big Smile

I loved mine. It felt so 'good' to pick up and use. Remember also that this was at a time when remotes were just plastic junk. Some still are but better ones have come along.

I have very fond memories of it.

When it came out I bought a later B & O remote, can't remember the model though. It had a glass display and buttons on both sides. Hopeless! Thank goodness I still had the 1000 at that time.

    Yes - thumbs up

I'd say ownership of the BL1000 through the 90's and later was probably a major part of why I'm still here now!

Yes the BeoLink 5000. That's what i had, but the insurance company replaced it with this BeoLink 1000. Sad

I didn't know so many people STILL liked it > It would have been amazing in its time, but for masterlinked TV's with motorised stands and set top box controllers, it's very backwards, and makes operation, an unpleasant experience.

The Beo4 is absolutely brilliant. You comfortably hold it where the center of gravity is, and everything you need is in easy reach with just your thumb.
That is my problem with the BL1000... you have to look at it and the buttons are all over the place. The play / stop / up / down / left / right cluster on this remote is barmy! You have to repeatedly press << >> in order to turn the television. What is the deal with that?

Not having an EXIT button is also a daily nuissance.

So basically i'll be selling it. I'm sure it'll be useful to someone who has B&o from the time it was designed.

Has to be one of the best items/remotes ever made imo, two here and will never give them up.

Simplicity, superb build, logically unparalleled? is there another remote out there which was so easy to pick up and use? which has stood the test of time and I use this more than my Beo5.... and iconic.

Yes, the beo4. We're in 2010 now and that remote was brought to us in 1994, beo4 is KING.

Oh yes, sorry.. wonder why I use the Bl1000 more than the beo4? must be my age... god I am so not with it anymore..

Thought I should add, even though it was made all those years ago.. I use mine in a link room and it is perfect for its intended use so for a product to still retain some element of functionality all these years later speaks volumes.

BL 1000 is great. I think I have 5 or 6 of them. I use it since 20 years now. It got a SHIFT and a LINK button, you can select DVD, V.AUX, DVD2, L-N.MUSIC.....without any List functions. You can even access the 4 colored buttons.

Sorry, I forgot: You can even use your BL1000 as a weapon - that`s the dangerous side...

Did anybody (any ex wife) try that with a Beo4?

No, thank god! Dear would be serious casualties! I use both Beo4 and Beolink 1000 on a daily basis. I love both!

    Re: The worst B&O

It's funny how this post became the Beolink 1000 fan club thread.

I became user of the BL1000 only last year, after 9 years with Beo4 and one with Beo5 and have to say that I was greatly impressed with the device (it actually feels more robust than the Beo4 and works very well all around). Definitely a great product and by the time of its launching must have been quite an impact.

    Hi Dave

I do hear where you're coming from, but the Beolink 5000 you were using before was hardly cutting edge technology, and not that much younger than the Beolink 1000 itself. The Beo 4 is pretty long in the tooth now too!

It's not as if the insurance company have give you a 6000 Commander after all :)
