    Beovox 3800

    Hi,

I recently sent a beoocenter 9500 to my father in France and will in time gift some Beolab Penta 3's to him when I can get them over to him. In the meantime he has some Beovox 3800....

Are these good speakers? He said they sound flat these days - he's owned them since new in the 70's. I've asked about foam rot & he say's there's no problem there so am I right in thinking that capacitors might be the problem?

Is it worth saving them & if so is there a cap kit that I can send over there?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Caps may well be the problem. The 3800 working well are  more than good enough to use while you father awaits his Pentalab 3's.

If your father is happy to fit them (or have them fitted) then a pm to Martin(Dillen) to make the arrangements for a kit to be sent directly to your father is the way forward.

The smaller drive units could be the problem - one of mine sounded as if the midrange unit was less than perfect. Not sure about the capacitors though I am sure Martin will know. -
