We Inherited a year ago a beogaram 5000 with some s55 speakers.  The whole thing is in mint condition ,but the foam around the woofers has now disentagrated.  Do we repair or not? if so how and where? if not what speakers should we buy to replace?

The Beovox S55 are fine speakers for their size.
The woofers are 6 ohms so not easily replaced by modern types but
I would almost always suggest refoam rather than replace anyways.
Shouldn't be too costly and if the rest is like new, they will be worth it.
I can help you if you are near Denmark.
I would also suggest you grab a capacitor kit. It would make good sense to
replace the old and dried out electrolytic capacitors while you have
the speakers apart.

I agree with Martin - definately worth repairing. The S55's are some of my personal favourites amongst the smaller "S" series of speaker. Do as Martin suggests & replace the cap's in the crossovers while you have them open.

You won't find anything near as good as these, in terms of sound & build quality, for the price of a repair kit & a little work.
