My Beocenter 8000 has developed some problems with the touch panel, which until today worked flawlessly. Apparently at least the "volume down" pad is much too sensitive. It will decrease the volume if I put my hand within 1 cm of that end of the panel, and sometimes even slowly decreases the volume without anybody being near the machine.

I cleaned the glass panel inside and out with no improvement. It is also seated correctly as far as I know and the glass isn't separating from the frame. Any ideas? A loose grounding strap somewhere? A poltergeist?

I have the opposite problem with my BC 9300. I have to press hard on the glass panel to get  response at all.

Is the glass loose in the plastic frame?

The '8000 is basically a stripped down '8500.The touch sensors are Bf240 (eq BF199?)transistors,one for each function.If only one function is affected ie volume down,,the transistor for that function or perhaps a resistor in the same circuit is probably noisy.Freezer should prove it.

Thanks for the hint, I'll try to check that. But I later noticed that the remote control sensitivity is also much worse now... might be unclean power somewere. Oh well, I guess I'll need to open it up again.

What cleaner did you use for the inside?

Since something like electrostatic capacity is used for control, dust and some rests of the cleaner can cause such symptoms.

Dont use alcohol or paint thinner for cleaning, pure hot water is enough. And no fingerprints inside ;)

Actually I'm starting to suspect there is something wrong with the AC power in general, some other equipment in the office has started misbehaving as well, ethernet errors and such... need to try it in some other room.

Problem solved... the power supply for a security camera splitter / multiplexer was just approaching melting point, although it still worked. Apparently it somehow managed to disturb the whole AC phase and equipment connected to it, backwards through an UPS!
