Registering Beocom 2 to MKI Beocom 6000

I recently received a MKII Beocom 2 that was previously registered to a beoline system.  I would like to register it now to my Beocom 6000 MKI master.  I tried pairing them by pressing the button on the 6000 base and the light flashed red, then I put the Beocom 2 into register mode (by selecting advanced settings and then living room (name of phone) and then it said searching for base but it never paired).  Is it possible to register the phone to the Beocom 6000 master?  If so, can someone please give me a step by step?  the manual is not too helpful and i've been searching rigorously on this site but to no avail.  i found several good posts from Keith and some others (Keith seems to be the foremost expert) but none were on point.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Registering Beocom 2 to MKI Beocom 6000

If it's the pyramid type base, be aware it can only handle 6 handsets or 5 and a Serene.
Make sure there aren't any dormant handsets registered.
Also, it would appear you are searching incorrectly. There should be no mention of "Living Room"  That is a handset, not a base.

As soon as you switch the handset on, it should prompt you to register to a base. If it does not, it must be already registered to the previous base.  Remove that base and start from fresh.
The PARK No you are looking for will not be the name of a room, but a long number begining with at least 2 zeros.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice, Jandyt.  FYI, I have read a number of your previous posts and they were helpful for other matters.

I tried to deregister the beocom 2 but was unable to.  Do I need to have the beoline that it was registered to on hand in order to deregister it?  since i haven't been able to deregister it, i am not getting the prompt to register to a base.  is there a way to reset the phone?

    thanks.

Ok, so i've managed to reset the phone (I think it was #9#9#*Hold).  Now i've tried to register the phone to the base.  the base was blinking and the phone said "searching base" but after about 5 mins nothing happened.  isn't the base number supposed to show up on the phone?  i'm so lost... any help please?

Re: Registering Beocom 2 to MKI Beocom 6000

There can be many reasons why your Beocom 2 is not registering with the Beocom 6000 base.

Lets start by looking at the most likely reasons first which are:-

    1. The Beocom 6000 base has a low software revision, it needs to be at least version 1.8 with the latest being 2.6
    2. You have got a US version of the Beocom 2 which is NOT compatible with the Beocom 6000 base. Check the 4 digit type number as below
    • Beocom 2 Mark I have "Type" numbers 0790 to 0927 and 0720 to 0941
    • Beocom 2 Mark II  EU "Type" numbers 1101, 1102 or 1103
    • Beocom 2 US version has # 0862 and 0863

Re: Registering Beocom 2 to MKI Beocom 6000

thanks so much again.  I have verified that my firmware is only 1.50.  Is it possible to upgrade the firmware?  I went to the local B&O store customer service (the only one here in Korea) and they said that it is not possible and even if it is, they cannot perform the operation.  if it is available overseas, do you know how much roughly it might be?  thanks in advance~

It is possible to update the firmware, but before you consider getting that done, check the 4 digit "Type" number as previously stated as its more than likely that you have a US version which will not work even if the firmware in the base of the Beocom 6000 was updated.
