    PS 3

I know that this has been the subject of a number of discussions already but would welcome some help. I have a beovision 7 with high definition upgrade. The TV was purchased new from a dealer in November 2006.

At the weekend I purchased a sony PS3 out of interest as to the picture quality benefits that could be achieved on the BV7 playing blu-ray disks versus standard DVD's.

The PS3 worked straight out of the box with a Samsung LCD we have in another room. The connection was via HDMI and took a couple of minutes. Great picture ... the sound was difficult to judge given the Samsung's limited speakers.

I then tried connecting to the BV7.

HDMI to DVI cable for video. This works ok albeit there seems to be a short period when the screen shows interference .... presumably when moving from SD to HD. I read another message on this topic today and am aware that this may require a dealer upgrade to sort.

Audio is where I have a problem. I seem unable to get any sound at all from the PS3.

I have connected an optical out to the PS3 and via a convertor a digital coax into the BV7.

In addition since the above did not work I have also connected the lead supplied with the PS3 into the audio connections in the BV7. Still no sound from the PS3.

Why is nothing with the B&O ever simple ??

Please also be aware that the PS3 only puts out audio via one port so if you use the optical port to the digital port on your BV7 then you will not get any sound from the cross media bar (XMB).  I have sound via the optical out no probs for blueray films and games in 5.1.  However until sony release an upgrade to enable audio out via 2 sockets you are stuck with one or the other.  Sony told me this direct and now i am waiting.  If and when they release the upgrade you will then be able to use the scart socket to enable 2 stereo PCM to be used.

    Hope this has been useful.

    Re: PS 3

First of all I would advise potential buyers of BV 7-32 THINK TWICE about buying this product. It is seriously flawed. I bought it on release of Sky HD . No issues have been addressed on this model. They have been rectified on the BV 7 40 Mk 3 . However the 7-32 is too small to have the same components. So its a white elephant.

PS3 : Connect the ps3 via hdmi to the dvi on tv.

connect optical cable from ps3 via connector to the coaxial input on TV .

Check connections on the menu of tv

on ps3 go to Sound and check 5.1 dolby digital

On main ps3 settings choose bitstream in bd/dvd settings for optical o/p.Not LINEAR PCM.

That should give audio and visual.

Otherwise complain to B&O UK and upgrade to 7-40 Mk 3 and just pay the difference .
