    Beolink 7000 Strange behavior

Is there a beolink 7000 expert here?

One of mine recently exhibited strange behavior. Volume no longer lights up, and in every source, the blue screen displays the controls for the tape. This happens when talking to either a 4500 system or 7000 system. All other Beolink 7000's are working normally. All commands go out properly. It also does this whether it receiving the data via IR or from the XTRA 7000 wall charger connected via MCL. I tried unsoldering the battery terminal to reset it, but that did not help.'

    Any thoughts?

Yes, the lithium memory battery is leaking, loosing acid over the cpu board. Yes, there is not only one battery inside, there is also a 2430 cell inside under the cpu module.

Or our old friends, the caps.

Probably the lithium cell... seen several times that the acid is leaking over the cpu chip, destroying the copper layer of the board.

Yikes! Thanks. I have downloaded the repair manual - not too helpful. Is it straightforward to get at the lithium battery?
