BL 8000 or BL3 as frontspeaker with BV9?

I have BV9 with BL 8000 as front and BL3 as rear. Before I try I ask if someone has any good points to this

I thinking of to set my BL3 as front and buy BL 4000 or BL4 as rear and maybe sell BL 8000.

I thing it´s overkill to have BL3 as rear or?

    thanks in advice

I would sell the BL8000's and use the BL3 as fronts.

Consider buying another couble of BL3's for rears. I would'n say that BL4's is really a choice, taking that you have a BV9.

You could also just go for a couble of BL9's for the front, use the BL3 as rears. But ofcourse it depends on your needs.

I'm sure, that you can get a dealer to show you the different configurations, so you can listen your self.

I have a BV8-40", just bought a couple of BL3's; which Im using as front speakers at the moment, while saving money for some BL9's. They really sound amazing. Even at the price tag.

I sold my bl 8000´s last year and replaced them with bl 9. Best thing I ever did. I also bought bl 3 as rears. I don´t think its overkill to use bl3 as rears. I listen a lot of music in SPEAKER 4 mode, BL 3 and 9 sound very nice together.... My tv is a BV 7-40.

I would also suggest to replace bl 8000 by bl9. I think designwise (and "soundwise") BV 9 and BL9 go very well together. A BL2 is in my opinion not necesary because the BL9 handels the bass superb.

Good luck in making your choice.

Just because it's mellow it doesn't mean it's less evil....

May I ask why? Is it beacuase the sound? You want ALT on front to match ALT on center?

I think it is waste to have BL3 as rear and my BL8000 is aprox 11 years old

Ofcourse I want BL5 (or BL9) but no chance to afford them now

I think BL 8000 is lack of treble!

Is BL3 better than BL 8000 or?

Re: BL 8000 or BL3 as frontspeaker with BV9?

I have Beolab 9 as fronts and BL3 as rears and unless you are really into speaker 4 mode I would say BL3 are overkill as rears. I have a only a BV3. One can argue the Dolby decoder is not that good in that TV but I don't think so.

I'm actually considering BL4 as rears and take my BL3s as fronts in another set up. I have to say the only time I get to challenge my rear speakers is with some recent movies like Dark Knight or Transofoermes or concerts such as Jean Michel Jarre in China and the likes. Most of the time they are just standing there, witnessing how good the BL9s are.

    Good luck in your decision.

If you compare BL3 and BL8000 as rears for movie surround, you won't notice the difference.

In music (speaker 4) mode, the sound from the 3s is more detailed in high/midrange but in my opinion the BL8000 sound is "rounder / warmer"

Currently I have a pair of Beolab 5s in the front and 2 Beolab 8000s as rears, I tried a pair of 3s last week in my setup and as I said, with movies, no significant change - with music, if you go beyond "60" in terms of volume, it feels like there is no rear at all :-)

To answer your question:Keep the 8000s, don't go for 4000s and forget the 4s :-)

Re: BL 8000 or BL3 as frontspeaker with BV9?

Since you have a BV9 with ALT speakers, I would suggest getting another ALT speaker at the front, so BeoLab 3 would be the obvious choice.

If you had had a TV with BeoLab 7-1/2/6, I would have suggested a pair of Lab 8000 indeed.

I have a BV7-32 and use Lab 3 as front & rear speakers, I always use speaker 4 with music and the sound is breathtaking. I am planning to buy another pair of Lab 3 to use one as the center speaker for the BV7. I have the table stand & the Lab 7-4 doesn't fitSad
