    A B&O Beogram virgin

    Hello BeoCool world!!

I am very excited to share that I have purchase a Beomaster 2000!!!! Its very lovely. I took it into my local B&O store in Toronto for clean up and minor repair.

Now the onto my next search that will complete my Beodream. A Beogram. Here's my question: my first preference it to complete the system w a matching Beogram 2000 but I'm becoming a little impatient. Is there a suitable substitute or a model that is better or ones to stay away from? I see a lot of RXs on ebay for the last 3 months. Which MMC is the best?

    Thanks for reading

I take it that you have the later touch sensitive Beomaster 2000. The Beogram 2000 has the advantage over the RX of having Datalink so that you only have to press one button on the Beomaster and the Beogram will start. An alternative would be the Beogram 3000, which is a tangential tracking deck.

The best MMC is the MMC1 but this would be overkill. I would suggest a Soundsmith SMMC4 is a very good starting point - it will be new and offers excellent performance.

I've used to have Beosystem 2000 '80s version and it was great.

I would sugest the Beogram 2000. Its a simpel no frills but good sounding and matches the Beomaster. A Soundsmith MMC4 is also my vote. As there is no remote/beolink options a newer Beogram does not give full options but will fit with 7 pin Data link cable that is standard. I can't recall if the Beomaster 2000 takes RCA plugs as I used the original DIN from the Beogram 2000.

    If you want both a cosmetic match & datalink control then any of these will do :- (R= radial, T = tangetial) Beogram 2000 ((R)1980's one) Beograms 5000 (R), 5005(T), 5500(T), 3000 ((T) 1980's one) Beogram 3300 (T), 9000 (T).

NOTE that none of these are fitted with a RIAA preamp as this already exists in the phono input of the beomaster 2000.

Plenty to choos form I thinkSmile  I agree 100% with Peter on the cartridge.
