New Purchases I need help with.

Well first off I am excited and what I bought has some issues. And even though financially I am nearly tapped I have things to part with to come up with some cash. Being disabled means less money but more time to enjoy good things....Not the worst swap in the world as long as my Drs take care of me. So what I bought is a set of Redline 140s with a Beogram 5000 receiver a Beogram CD5500 a Beogram 5005 turntable with a mmc5 stylus. It also came with a Master Control panel 5000 and the Terminal 5000 smaller remote. The isues are as follows. The receiver only has its ready light lit up{if thats what its called } and the remote usage causes no changes whatsoever when being used. The speakers came with the stands and the whole setup is on the B&O stand that was original for all the components.I have always wanted a B&O setup and never found a setup complete in my travels till this one came up.I may have overpaid in the eyes of some but irregardless when I get this playing the way it was designed not a cent will mattter. What I want is to find out what steps I need to take next on my own before succumbing some of my other cherished posessions to get this working.By the way I paid $750.00 for the whole setup. And I don't have any remorse yet....Help me keep it that way...LOL! The turntable is working fantastic on my Marantz 2325 and so is the cd player. So enjoyment is already a part of the deal .

Sorry to hear of these troubles - I have a 5000 system and I love it.

It is good that the Beogram and CD55000 are working on the Marantz.

Are you able to test the Redlines the same way by connecting them to the Marantz?

When you supply power to the Beomaster 5000, you say its red standby light comes on ... do you also hear some clicks from inside? does the unit generate a small amount of heat at the back?

Are you able to press the bottom left hand side of the mental front piece of the Beomaster (it is marked "OPEN") and odes the strip open by folding down?

If the strip does not fold down, try gently opening by using a finger nail to apply pressure so it swings open.

Now see if pressing any of the revealed buttons cause any status lights to come on.

Make sure you fresh batteries in the MCP 5000 and that those contacts are clean.

Finally you might try using a mobile video camera to see if you can see any transmissions from the MCP to the Beomaster.

Hopefully this will be easily fixede, the good news being that major parts of the system are working on the Marantz !

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Re: New Purchases I need help with.

I did hook up the RL140's to the Marantz and very carefully listened .All was fine at first it seemed but after just a short while I started to hear problems on the left speaker. Need to switch speakers t confirm the Marantz is not to blame as I know the Marantz needs attention also. I am having fun here for sure...The Speaker though is waht i think has the issues as its a buzzing coming for them. But heres the thing. If the speakers need the same attention a standard woofer needs I should be fine. I fixed the woofers on my Infinity RSIIs a while ago and I think they are fine. Those speakers are still in the fix stage due to the rear controls needing serious attention.Metal there is oxidizing..Actual dust inside the pots. The wife sees the opportunity to have those behemoths removed from the living room stage but since I have not played them thru a proper amp we have never actually heard them in all thier glory..That must be attended to before they become second fiddle.I do expect the Redlines to be the fronts in my setup by the way.So the plan is the 46 Samsung LCD with the Redlines on either side possibly even on the wall and the RSIIs carrying the rear.DO the speakers in the redlines have any differences that I would not be able to fix like I did the RSIIs .They have polypropolene woofers but cleaning a fabric/paper cone as opposed to clear plastic should be the only diff I hope.Putting a new suround on hpefully sets up the same.I also saw a nice clothespin trick to line things up better than how I did last time.

Hopefully swapping the RLs around will clarify things on the speaker front.

Any luck with testing the Beomaster 5000 and its MCP?
