    Beocenter 2

    Hello everybody!

I have one or two questions concerning the Beocenter 2!

I am thinking of buying  a BC2, the audio only version. So I would like to know, because I am not sure if I am going to buy a new or a used one, if the functions were staying the same over the years of production? Can a new one do the same as a used one? Are there any modifications planed in the next few months? Are there any known issues with the BC2 that I have to be aware of? Or would you recommend me a different B&O unit!

Thank you very much for your help!

    Regards.

PS: Can I use a BC2 which was made of the UK market in Switzerland without any constrictions?

    Re: Beocenter 2

If I were to go for the BC2 I would personally go for the DVD version as it would most probably make more sense in a future link system. Additionally it should have the DAB system on it as well.

However, I would never change my Beosound 4 that more or less has the same features as the BC2 and in my opinion looks far better.

You can always check for all the updates through your local dealer by providing the S/N of a used one that the seller should provide prior to the purchase.

    Best regards

I have a BC2 DVD version since 2005.  IMHO one of my best investisement along with my Beolab 5 and 3!

Just watched Star Wars on it 10 min ago.....

I had before Beosound 4,  Beocenter 9000,9500  etc....and all was sold after less than 1 year.....

Concerning the quality, Beosound 4 was the worst....was replaced 2 times....Also a lot of fingerprints left on the metal during the production process and some visible marks on the black glass.

Next buy: Beosound 9000 this year....

    all sold!

But you cannot compare the BS4 with BC9000 or 9500!!

Of course it's a matter of experience. Frankly speaking my BS4 plays since the last 2 years every single day for more than 4 hours either CD or AMEM and had no faults up to this moment.

    Best regards

Look for one with audible feedback from the keys - I think all the audio models have this but check. I would however get the DVD model - the head unit is the same so all you are doing is not using some features. Very happy with mine. I do sometimes hanker after a BS9000 simply for the multi disc ability but now I have my music controlled by iPhone, this is not really an issue.

    Re: Beocenter 2

    Thank you for your answers!

I do think that the Beosound 4 is no competitor for a Beocenter 2. The design of the BC2 is far more elegant then the BS4. I always really liked the BS9000 (who does not!!?) but I would like to go for a little bit smaller unit than this. The BC2 is in my opinion very special concerning the design.

I have a BV Avant DVD. Thats why I thought of getting an audio only version. I am just wondering about the head unit of the BC2! Is it really the same and just the socket unit if different??

The head units are all the same - Type 2802. The Avant is what I used to use mine with - not ideal as you have to name the BC2 as a V.Tape! The Avant (or at least mine!) had no facility for DVD2. Still works though and by getting the DVD enabled type, it will play DVDs if you change the TV.
