Hi gang!
Is sitting with a whisky, watching a documentary about Apollo 11 and transferring my CDs to iTunes.
Got myself a MacBook Pro for Christmas and wondering how I can access the music on iTunes from my B&O link system.
As a Mac rookie I have some questions:
- As soon as I get a BV7 I will get a MacMini and connect it to the TV. Or do I need a AppleTV?
- Will that give me link access to the music on the Mac?
- Do a need to upgrade my BS9000 for NetMusic and NetRadio? The BS9000 will be in option 0.
- Do I need an AirPort Express or can I have a Time Capsule instead?
- Can it be accessed from a BS5?
(Famous Grouse if you wonder)

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
Simplest way is to get an Airport Express and connect it to AUX on your BS9000.
You control iTunes over the WLAN using e.g. an iPod Touch.
Enjoy the drink :-)

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
I now changed to Band of Brothers and a Heineken.
I think it would be nice to have a computer connected to the TV and I guess I need to have one computer "on line" all the time. So I will aim for a MacMini. No need for the AppleTV then I guess.
A time capsule will be great for backups, so that's why I will not go for the AirPort Express.

... have a look at the dedicated forum on this site.
Now I remember. I collapsed the section "B&O and your computer" way back as I was not interested then. I will start to read the threads in the Mac forum. Thanks.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
By the way, I just discovered I have two copies of "The Duets" (a jazz CD from B&O). Hm, think I will give one to my father. He likes jazz.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
Sorry for bumping in.. But contrary to what you think Heiniken is not beer.. It's lemonade.
My name is Karel.. and I'm from Belgium.. the land of beer and chocolat. :-)
Please continue with the thread :-)
Anyway... I recently switched over to The Dark Side and my praises now go to Lord Jobs... Steve Jobs. Have connected a Airport Express to the Aux of the Ouverture (not N.Music compatible)... and can control iTunes with my iPhone... Easy and simple.
The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
I've been to Belgium. The only thing I will say about Belgian beer is that they served me strawberry beer. Champagne and strawberries can be mentioned in the same sentence. Not beer! So anyone from Belgium is disqualified when we talk beers.

Excuse me Daniel, but you are watching a documentary about Apollo 11........ And you still manage to post here... I for sure couldn't. (Spacebuff)
OK, I put it on Famous G's tab.
I don't think the Apple TV will do you much, I have a Mac mini connected to my BV5, but I don't have multi room link...

Oh thats nasty!!!
This one time, in Brussels...
OK, it was actually in Brussels, my friend and I took turns ordering beers at a bar, and once at our fifth or sixth he ordered us Kriek "Belle Vue"... He said: " Oh this is a fine one, I had it before... -Bartender could we have two Belle Vues please?" I still hate him for that....

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
AppleTV is very limited in its movie playback capability. HD movies and any file type other than .m4v have a lot of difficulty playing on ATV. A Mac Mini will be more difficult to connect because it doesn't have an HDMI port, but will provide greater compatibility for movie playback.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
How to make your life better with a Mac and B&O:
1. Buy some B&O
2. Buy a MacMini
3. Buy a Beoport
4. download the Linkplayer software
5. download plex
6. cable and configure everything. now you have your DVDs, music, and photos all running off your Mac, controllable with Beo4, and done in Plex
7. drink beer. I like Augustiner, personally, but that's probably because I lived 200 meters from the brewery.

Thank you! Good point to have the beer as number 7, and not as number 1!
I live 1 000 meters from the Absolut distillery, so maybe I shall go for a drink instead.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
Ok. So i hope this won't be ignored. Most of my posts on this site tend to be completely ignored.
I too am combining MAC with B&O but i am planning to implement a beomedia 1 into my setup (beocenter 2 in main room, and beocenter 1 in link room).
What are our thoughts? These two soloutions (macmini / BM1) are very similar in function, but which offers better flow of use and sound quality? My house is beolinked... my dealer said there will be no loss in sound quality, having a beomedia 1 with my high quality music files on it.
Thanks in advance

I have no idea how that would work. None whatsoever. I've never even seen a BM1 that I can recall. I have absolutely nothing to contribute, neither helpful nor a hinderance; I just wanted to let you know you're not being ignored.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
Hi Dave. I myself also have a BM1 in my link system. The pros are that is very smooth running, you have everything controlled via BEO4, and i really like the N.Radio feature which is a paradise and nicely organised.
But the cons are several as you can find in other threads also. Some audio formats are not supported (eg. Apple Lossless), you cannot play movies, and there are no Cover Arts of the Albums in N.Music. I think more cons and pros can be added here...

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
Recently I installed the ATVflash on my Apple TV and really this changed the whole perspective!!!
I'm now just copying whatever movie (format) I want and watch it over my BV4-42. I also have an iMac but mostly this is just for surfing around the net, sync iTunes with ATV for podcasts etc.
I would rather go to Apple TV instead of Mac Mini.

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
You can play movies on the BM1 - jut install VLC. The BM1 isn't fast enough though to play back HD movies, while the ATV can.

Actually I'm now even more confused, but at least I know where to start and what direction to run for answers.

That is interesting. And then how do you find them with the BM1 menu (N.Radio,N.Music,Photos, Web)? Can you explain a little bit more? Thank you in advance

Re: Mac to B&O system, how?
Put your videos in the Photo folder and select the movie as if you are looking at a photo and it will play. Note that FF/REW pause all work too.
