Sounds like a scam to me.

HE ASK YOU TO PAY BY buysafe.com which looks like a legit site but he will create a fake site and send you the email asking you to forward the money to the agent which does not work for buysafe. For more information contact www.buysafe.com to report this person before he cheats and scams of others.

Didn't this ring any alarm bells?

2. The speakers are still under 3 year warranty 
until December, 2008.

That would have been scuppered by my 'cash on delivery', PIN check and call to friendly dealer with Serial numbers M.O.

I figured it was an old ad that hadn't been deleted from the web.
