Master Control Remote 5000 "no transmission"

Anyone know what I need to do to get the remote to work? With every button pushed it says "no trasmission". I wonder if there is a series of buttons that need pushing to establish a link to my old Beomaster 5000 system...I hope. I have no manuals unfortunately.

    Thanks for any help...

Is it definitely a Beomaster 5000 that you have, and definitely an MCP5000? They will only work with each other, and the BM5500/MCP5000 or BM5000/MCP5500 combo will not work. If they are compatible, try turning on a video camera on a mobile phone and press one of the buttons on the MCP. You should be able to see the IR transmission, and also if it's working the transmission from the BM 5000 too.

Definately a 5000/5000 combo. Funny you suggest the digital camera trick. I literally just did that. There is definately a light coming out of the remote. Should I see one on the receiver as well? not sure where it is located, but didn't see one.

    Thanks

The transmitter window is somewhere along the front glass panel. In the right light you can see the two (one receiver, one transmitter) squares in the right light. I wonder if the problem lies in the Beomaster....

I think that the Beomaster is definately the problem. No light at all. Not the end of the world. Still operates but would like the luxury of the remote and additional functions.

I'm assuming the receiver window on the Beomaster is the problem as it is non-responsive to receiving instruction from the remote. Never a simple fix I imagine.

I suggest you replace capacitors in the Beomaster power supply and also on the processor and IR modules.

While you're at it, giving the IR receiver window a good cleaning wouldn't hurt.

I agree, the IR window and the IR's themsleves seems to be the place for dust to collect.

Thanks all. Looks like I'll need to get a hold of the service manual.

Is there a capacitor kit available for the 5000 by chance?

    For the Beomaster 5000, yes.
For the MCP 5000, I don't think so but one can be put together if needed.

Beomaster 5000 and remotes working well! I finally got around to replacing the capacitors. It was definitely the power supply caps that were causing the remote control "no transmission" issues, but i replaced them all.

Thanks for your advice and kit.
