New interesting iPhone universal iR Control!!

    http://l5technology.com/

Check the link. It applies to iPhones and it seems that is going to be remote of the year!!!!!

As mentioned on the website it can create apporx 100.000 commands.

Seems quite interesting and maybe feel in some gaps of Beo5!

    Best regards

I can't see it ever being much more that a novelty item. Is anyone going to buy an iPhone to dedicate as a remote - of course not, will anyone do the same with a touch - possibley, except that you have to keep removing to dongle-berry to charge the touch! Then of course it's out of action during charging. The dongle gubbins is likely to get lost/knocked/broken etc. and it looks daft! Now, an easily programmable, simple to use, well supported, good looking, small universal remote (not unlike a touch but self contained) would be fantastic - of course there's always the Beo5!

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

    HI Puncher,

I guess it's a matter of personal taste. And of course this has not been tested so obviously we cannot say for sure how useful that could be.

However the idea of directly putting the ir commands instead of creating XMLS (at least for me that I do not know how) is quite tempting. Additionally my personal favor it to have an overall device that would be able to control everything and also get emails, talk, surf etc.

Apart from that frankly spoken I do like too much the looks of my iPhone and the interface as well. Not that I do not appreciate my Beo5!!!!

In any case I think it's interesting to see what's on the gadget market Wink

    Best regards

Don't forget Floodgate's remote app and hardware for the iPhone / iPod Touch.  The hardware is more expensive, but it isn't a "dongle" on the device.

I particularly like the ease of programmability that these apps demonstrate with the iPhone / iPod Touch - it makes doing the complicated series commands (can't remember the lingo for these types of remote commands right now) so easy.

Don't get me wrong - the Beo5 remark was firmly Tongue-in-cheek!

I think the concept is sound, but only as a stand-alone device, it's the "dongle" idea that I think is flawed.
