    It's been a while - this concludes my 3rd new post - Beomaster 8000

As the title suggests, it's been a while and my new years resolution is to add to my "retro B&O collection" - I have her indoors approval - (i wish)

My favourite system is my Beosystem 8000 bay a country mile - (based on looks he - he!!)

Question.................. should i look to try and find a Beomaster 8000 in place of the 6000 and a pair of Beolab 1's in place of my Penta's????

I had a new years party and linked my Serenata throuch my 6000 amp via Penta 2's playing everything from rock & roll to Armin Van Buuren and woooooooo it rocked. My son's 20 year old mates thought they were in  Ibiza.

I need a project for 2010 and thought the quest for a Beomaster 8000/Beolab 1's  would be fun, but will I notice the difference????

Do these beasts rock, are they the real deal????

I love my 8000 and wouldn't part with it for the world (incidentally I use mine with Beovox Pentas) and would recommend joining the 8000 club to anyone with the space! Seriously though, there's no point in buying an 8000 to use with Beolab 1s. The 8000 has 150w per channel, so why circumvent this and use the Beolab 1s' internal amps??? Get one by all means, but this amp was built to power big passive speakers, so I would have thought something like Beovox Pentas, M100s, MS150.2s, or RL140s would be more appropriate if you want to keep the B&O thread going speaker-wise :)

Nice result by the way (I'm a scouser he-he)

Are you saying use an 8000 to power up passive Penta's (as i have a pair)

    yes

it seems odd to me that your BM6000 which has an internal amp rated at 75w per channel is even driving some Penta 2's (which are active)

Yep - Ouverture is right. My 8000 amp is powering some passive Pentas. The 8000 is one big brute of an amp, but if you don't use the internal amp as it was designed for it is pretty much redundant save for being a massive FM receiver :)

Super Leeds did good, BTW ;)

Sorry for those that have seen this before, but here's my set-up at home (note the space required!):

Using Beolab 1s with a Beomaster 8000 seems a bit of a waste. To get the best from an 8000, you need big passive speakers - something with a decent bass unit. MS150s are the ideal match. Not much Wife Approval Factor though!!
