    Dead Beo5?

    Merry Christmas to everybody!

I have just downloaded 3.23 version of the configuration software and uploaded all necessary changes I made.

However, obviously, there was also a hardware update and actually the software freezed during download thus had to remove the Beo5 from docking station.

Currently the Beo5 will not switch on, will not be recognized by the software and the only clue of life is a red dot behind the screen which most probably is the signal dot but will not do anything!

Any advise would be more than appreciated please!!!!!!!!!!!

    Warm regards

    Spiros

    Best regards

    Hi Spiros

Try to charge your Beo5 fully on the table charger and try again to download the new firmware.

Usually, when new firmware is downloaded to the Beo5, the battery becomes empty.

    Regards

    Re: Dead Beo5?

    HI Quim,

Already had it on charge for more than 8 hours and when got back home it was still black screen and no response.

I did also put it after that on my 3.23 configurartion and it will not be recognized.

I'm just wondering if there is any kind of key series to press and bring it back to manufacturer's setup. Definitely I can see the red dot on the back of the screen which obviously shows that the Beo5 is turned on.

I'm really unhappy about it since I had everything loaded on the remote. Plus it's one of my favorite B&O devices and ...............

    Many thanks for tip though.

    Warm regards and Merry Christmas

    Hello Spiros

Have you tried to press Standby and Center button at the same time?

You will enter in the Service Menu. You can choose to apply a default gonfiguration or change other things.

Maybe it responds and you can configure it again.

    Good luck!

    Re: Dead Beo5?

    Hello Quim,

The tip is good as when pressed just the center key the red dot disappeared after 15-18 seconds. However on the docking station it will not switch off.

I'm afraid that I might have erased the complete software inside  (although I find it very difficult).

I already changed three computers (already had the setup on) and non is responding. Additionally it will not under any circumstances be recognized by the computer although I use the driver. I get an unknown device, then update driver but fail!!!

    Something is definitely very wrong!!!!

Let's see what else can be done.

    Hello Spiros

When you press just the center button for some seconds you are turning off your Beo5. I meant you have to press and hold the standby button and press the center button to enter in the Service menu. Let's see if your Beo5 enters in this menu.

    Regards

    Re: Dead Beo5?

    Hello Quim,

That doesn't work either. Actually the screen will not open at any press of what ever button. I don't know if there is another combination of buttons that someone can overpass the std configuration and go for the factory settings.

When you press any buttons the only thing that opens is the red light on the back of the screen which is as far as I understand the ir light that remains constantly on :(

Really I do not know how far damage I have created to my Beo5.

    Hope to a Christmas miracle!!

Thank you very much for all the ideas though. I'm sure they will be helpful in the future (Hopefully not needed to be used though!!!!!)

    Best regards

    Re: Dead Beo5?

    I'm just thinking loud!!!

What if the battery is removed. Obviously that should be a master reset? SHouldn't it be?

I was about to suggest battery disconnection, though I have never dome it.
Maybee you could let it go completely flat to force a reset?Hmm

    Re: Dead Beo5?

Already started doing this but it is going to take ages!!!!! I have to press now and then some button otherwise it goes on sleep so we will be having news next year!!!!!

The best solution if there is something like a master reset would be to remove the battery but as mentioned before this is NOT my task.

And I'm also waiting for my BV4 and was going to start the new set up Sad

    Hi Spiros

I would wait till Keith Saunders comes back from vacations. He will help you for sure, if your Beo5 is not dead as you ask in the post title.

    Regards

    Quim
