    Hi Martin

I got the belts, Thanks. If I hold the play button down the motor spins, If I mess with it I can get the heads to move up and down when the gears spin. but I think theres something up with the "next" button (not really the button but the circuit) , the light is on all the time.

I've had many of these types of problems in older cassette decks. The problem is that the rubber on the idler wheels has hardened and is too smooth.

Assuming you can find new replacement idler tyres, rather use new.

Assuming not (my experience), first soften the rubber with an alcohol-soaked tissue held to the rubber wheels, while they are turning.

After the rubber softens (you will see that the tissue is not blackening from the rubber any more, take a Japanese knife, and hold the blade to the rubber (while turning) shaving off a miniscule layer of the old rubber.

    Reapply alcohol.

You should see an improvement in the function of the deck.

Are you sure you got all three belts on correctly ?
The square belt next to the flat belt can often cause confusion.

I'll post a picture  when I get home from work. I think I have them right. The square one rides on the outside of the brass motor pully (right side)

any Ideas on why its stuck on "next" if not I'll ebay it for parts. I'm thinking I need to reset a chip or something.
