Hi, I'm a B&O virgin.  I bought a Beolab 5000 from a buddy in Norway.  I ran it when I got it at my house in France running on 220v and it only played through the right hand channel.  Having now moved to Canada, I sent it into the local (good) audio place and they ran it up and said it had an issue with the power supply.  They fully tested it running at 110v  on both the 220v switch and the 110v switch.  I set it up at home and had a week of great sound on both channels.  Tonight the left hand channel has dropped completely again....I think my power supply has now died on me.  

Any ideas on a. what the problem may be, and secondly, how to get hold of a power supply....

A bit confusing as B&O have used the same name for two different products...
Do you have the Beolab 5000 active speakers of the late 1980's or the Beolab 5000
stereo amplifier from the 1960's ?

Sounds like the amplifier. The fact it plays perfectly and comes and goes makes me think of a loose connection or solder joint.

I agree.
Try playing a bit with the level setting switches underneath (with no power on), could easily be that one has oxidized.
