Let's say you are a client of B&O and ask about the long lasting service by the company. You buy a Beomedia1 for around 2000 Euros and some months later BeoMaster comes in replace. And you ask the Company ....will their be any updates for Beomedia1? And let's say you send them a polite email to ask which goes like this:
Dear sirs, I am a customer from Greece and amongst other products i own a
Beomedia 1. Not long after my purchase you launched the new product Beomaster5.
My question is. Why do you leave Beomedia1 out of your updates? Why can't we
have let's say ALBUM COVERS on Beomedia1???? You sell on high
prices and there is no reason to discontinue the software updates on a product. There are
numerous people that bought it and supported you. Why do you leave them out of
the new features. I believe that is NOT AT ALL a B&O after sales attitude
towards its loyal customers. Waiting for your soonest reply,

Dear Mr. Dimitris.
We are pleased to see that you are owner of Bang & Olufsen products. We have to say that we are no longer
making updates for BeoMedia 1, but we are sorry if you do not agree with our
policy.

It is commonly accepted that manufacturers should endeavor to update software in order to maintain compatibility with other commonly available products, for a prudential length of time after the last item was sold.
For instance, if an update is required in order to interact with a more recent version of OS X, or Windows, or MasterLink.
But it is not commonly seen for manufacturers to update with additional features.

Additional features are coming to Beoplayer or Beoport for instance. Why not Beomedia 1? It shouldn't be soooo hard to do...
And that is not B&O at all, i insist

It seems that beomedia1 never had much support to start with.
If you bought it only a couple of months ago at a dealer, I suggest you try to either return it for a refund or try to upgrade to a beomaster5.
Most of these reply letters are standard issue at B&O and are just meant to make you contact your local dealer instead in order to find a solution for whatever problem you have. And yes... those replies are very aggravating ..... Similar thing when asking them about MAC/beoport compatibility.

Theres only one option: We all who have BM1 contact Beocare and ask for update that you can use albumcover
No big issue for them

Nobody ever tried to install the beomaster 5 software on a Beomedia 1?? It's not a very heavy (I mean for computing power) software, and you already have the drivers for the graphic card and audio output... So it should be interresting to try that. Harder part : getting the software!

I join the queue of all of you who want the album cover in Beomedia 1. That would complete the product.
It would not be too much to ask to get that final update on a product that costs so much.

Jeez, guys. Having had Beomdeia for about 2 years, I really don't see all the sweat about alblum covers.
The music is there, just the same. Or would you all rather just bpush the MUTE button and watch on you BV9s?
The rest of the functionality is closer rather than different between the two. I just want better video support for my home videos (beyond MPEGs)
Chill and enjoy your Beomedia. I know I am!

Oh, you should have seen the mailings between me and B&O regarding BL5 sync using third party players.... Hideous to say the least.... In the case of the BL5 thay actually falsely marketed the specs of the early BL5's IMHO.
But this is a company not known for customer service coming from the head, but rather from dealers.

Trying to refrain commenting on the tablet.
I think in these days one has to learn that a product after release doesn't incur match upgrades other then bug fixes.
Exception is if the vendor can make more money. I.e. ATV and Roku box received improvements to support more sales but looking at normal Ipods, not much happened through upgrades.
You get what you see, this is why I am holding off the BS5 until it's there. Gapless playing. Apple Lossless support. MOTs within a category. 2 way remote. Amen.

I cant help myself and liken this issue to BEOPORT and the issues MAC users have had with no software updates rendering the product next to useless!!!!
B&O promised an update but six months have gone by with no news,,,

Can't fully agree. My iPod Touch which I use exclusively in the home to access music on my ATV, has received many updates, as has the ATV. Yes this been to fix some bugs on each, but many have expanded the functionality and facilities beyond those available when I purchased them.

I think we would find a decent size user based willing to pay for a beoport mac solution or a beomedia 1 upgrade, they could allocate resources to that.
And since missing coverart is clearly a new, valuable function, I think B&O might have to rethink their business model.
I heard never ever somebody complaining about paying for functional computer software upgrades.

You paid for that upgrade. For the ATV, it is for them mostly a vehicle
to sell on itunes, same for the Roku box where they added additional

I was responding to the eroneous statement that ".....a product after release doesn't incur upgrades other than bug fixes".
What you say is of course correct, but that doesn't support the quoted statement.
