beocenter 2200 very low right side?

    Hi All

I just picked up a beocenter 2200 (25 bucks i thought I'd take a chance) well the tape deck belts are bad thats not to bad. but the right side is very low the left side sounds great. any ideas? one more thing the "next" light stays lit all the time is that normal? i don't know what that "next" does. the turntable seems to work but not sure about the needle yet.

    Thanks

    Roy

There are some small japanese-type capacitors in the signal path that often go bad,
often leaking their fluid contents. Some are located near the tuning gear cutout.
If it's only low on FM check also the MPX filters.
The next function winds the tape to the next track, the light should not be lit at all times but
if the tapedeck is not working, it may have stopped mid-cycle.

    I can supply new belts.

I found 2 leaky caps. The only testing tools I have VOM and my eyes. LOL

Yes, those are definitely bad, look at the way the leaking boric acid have attacked their leads.
Many of the others will probably be bad or at least marginal too.
Still, they were not exactly the ones I had in mind. Look near the circular cutout for the dial pointer gear.

You have a PM regarding belts (check your inbox at the extrme top right corner of this page).

I think this is what your talking about (the 2 bad ones). As for the the belts I could only see 2 , It looks like larger flat (i'm guessing my belt was a big ball of rubber wrapped around the brass wheel) and a small square sided one. if you have a picture that might help.

Yes, those caps are the exact ones.
Clearly bad. I suggest you replace the lot.

There are in fact three belts in the tape deck.
I can include mounting instructions/photos with the belts if you need.

Replaced the cap's all is good!!  now I can fix the tape player, look for a paypal from me for the belts this week. I played the record player and i think it needs a needle. Do you have one?

I don't have any needles, but it may be worth sending it to Axel in Germany for a
retip'ing. Good quality work and great sound. I would recommend this.
Alternatively, Soundsmith in the US produce new cartridges. Good but (with all respect) a bit
expensive compared to the general value of your Beocenter.
