    Masterlink problem I think

    In my main room i have a Beosystem 3, Beomedia 1 and a Beosound 3200, linked by Masterlink cable. All my speakers are connected via the Beosystem 3. I also have a link room with a pair of Beolab 3.

    Prior to having the Beosystem 3 I had an Avant on the masterlink cable that is now used for the Beosystem3, and everything worked as expected.

    When the dealer added the Beosystem 3 and Beomedia 1 in Feb this year, he spliced the masterlink cable to provide 2 masterlink sockets at one end so that the Beosystem 3 and the Beomedia 1 could be connected where the Avant once was.

    I put all my CDs onto the Beomedia 1 and since the installation havnt used my Beosound 3200 on CD, I have used the radio with no probs. Now I have noticed if I do play a CD on the 3200 the following happens;

    From standby;

    Press CD go in the mainroom

    BS3 comes on

    Speakers come on

    Sound comes on for about 2 seconds then silence, however speakers are still on.

    Goto link room bring on speakers and sound is heard from linkroom speakers.

    Also

    From standby in main room

    Press Radio go

    Everything  works as expected sound stays on.

    Also

    From standby in main room

    Press radio go

    Everything works as expected

    then Press CD go

     Everything works as expected

    Can anyone advise if I have a masterlink prob of some kind or something else?

    Regards

    Peter

    Ask your retailer what option your BS3 and BS3200 should be set at. Could be that the system is getting double commands.

    Interesting one! Don't understand why the radio works and the CD does not! Have you got the reference book? If not, it is one site. Look at the option settings for audio. Really your dealer should have done this when he fitted it! It sounds more like an Option problem as everything works in the link room.

    The BS3 is on v.opt 2 and the bs 3200 is on A.opt 0.

    The thing is the CD only dosnt work the first time round. As expalined above, if i bring the radio on first then go cd it comes on and stays on.

    I was wondering isfthe masterlink cable uses different wires for cd / radio or commands and I may have a bad connection since the dealer spliced the cable? This is just a guess as I dont know what wire is used for what in the ML2 cable.

    Solved!

    I asked my dealer, very helpful. Their technician suggested powering off the BS3200 for 30min then restarting it. This has cleared the problem. Must admit having owned various B&O kit now for 11 years I have had this kind of advice a number of times but didnt think to do it with this problem.
