    BeoVision 7 40'' BluRay or BeoVision 10 40''

BeoVision 7 40'' BluRay or BeoVision 10 40'', which TV is more worth the money?

    Re: BeoVision 7 40'' BluRay or BeoVision 10 40''

I believe they are totally different propositions. From a pricing point the BV-10 is more attractive I think, however the BV7 brings more (integrated blu-ray, integrated beo system 3 which is theoretical upgradeable, different panel technology, different sound options).

So, if you look f or a stand alone solution, the BV-7 provides more imo. Also, if you want an upgrade to HD sound, the BV-7 is more likely to be upgradeable due to the BS3.

If you want a TV very flat to the wall, the BV-10 is the way to go.

In my opinion the BV7-40 is the best TV or entertainment-center

    I don´t wanna switch my BV7 for a BV10.

The BV7 has a better picture, better sound, builtin BlueRay, display-out for a beamer and many more.....

But you becomes 2 BV10 for the prices of one BV7.

I saw the BV10 for the first time in my local dealer last week. I've got to be honest, it was disappointing. I thought it would be similar to the BV5 but its nothing like it at all. The thing that sticks out in my mind about it the most is build quality and general appearance. It just looks cheap and tacky. I thought it may have been the new Avant replacement but it certainly is not. I was considering trading in my BV7 to get it because I thought the picture quality and design would be leaps ahead but its not even close. When the dealer took the front speaker cover off and I saw underneath I was amazed at how cheaply put together the whole set looked. It was like a set produced in China for a mass market and didn't have that individual B&O feel to to it. The picture quality playing a Bluray DVD was no better than my Mark III 7-40. In fact, the 7-40 is far better to be honest. I guess that's because of the BeoSystem 3 processor. The sound was OK considering the small space they had to work with but there's no way I could listen to that low quality sound having been used to a 7-2 speaker with the 7-40 that is simply awesome. I am actually quite taken back by this TV as it wasn't what I was expecting at all. Especially after reading some of the comments on this site about it. My recommendation is the BV7 without a shadow of a doubt if you want a top end future proof TV solution, or BV9 if you can go the extra mile. Watch out for the new 7-55 too though as I personally think this is going to be a real hit. I may well upgrade to this set in the future. I love the way it looks on the floor stand. I think this may well be the choice for many over the BV9.

    Simon.

The reason the BV10 has gone down so well in the B&O world is that the BV7 has simply become too expensive for most people (myself included) to justify the purchase - £10K, effectively. So, along comes a £6K BV10 and it's a 'good buy' in B&O terms. If you think about the value aspect, it's an excellent TV. Although I'm also keeping my BV7-40, I still think the BV10 is a decent choice and edges out the BV8-40.

Simon, you have room for the BV7-55? :) Seriously?

I'm holding out for the BV7-46 which will be a good balance for me. The BV7-40 is a little too 'small' for me in my living room, but the 55" would completely dominate.

I agree Simon, the sound from the TV set me off... Picture is wonderful, so is the finish, IMHO.

    Staying with the BV5.

I saw the Beovision 10 earlier this week and I really like the design and picture quality. I don't think it's cheap looking or tacky at all. Can't comment on the sound, it was part of a surround system with 4 Beolab 6000's and a Beolab 2. I would think the Beovision 10 is better value than the Beovision 7.

I will take the the BV10 for my living room. It looks perfect on the wall, but not on a floor stand (only my opinion).

For my living room I would prefer a BV7 to replace my Avant. But the BV7-40 is too small and the BV7-55 too big

Does anyone know when the BV7-46 will come out??

Same here. However, I wasn't too keen on how the speaker cover sits on the front, giving it a raised look. You can simply pull it off. It's connected with a few magnets!

I was also a bit unsure about how you would keep the bezel clean as it's rather shiny.

Sadly it's more 'if' rather than 'when'. No 46" is planned (from what I understand) and, if it's not even in planning stage, it won't be out for a long long time! We were talking about the BV7-55 about a year ago, as an example.

The BV7-46 is more of a wish from myself, than something B&O are developing :(

It has arrived! Busy working through the options - sound is very good as a centre speaker in a surround system - actually a bit clearer than the Avant though not as warm. Picture on Sky is excellent and using the DVB-HD (obviously not HD!) is fine. The analogue is not in use so can't comment on this. Very slim and I think it looks great on the floor stand. Very nicely set up by Terry and Kevin who are now an independent contracting business.

The 'cable clutter' - not!Just so you know, attached are front and rear speakers, a Beocenter 2, a Beocord V8000 and a Sky HD box. Also an RF amplifier and Masterlink.

Gorgeous!!! Yes - thumbs up Somehow I never liked how the floorstand looked in the press/official pictures, but it looks great in your living room. Also like how the Lab 2 matches with the gong. Smile

Can you confirm that the panel height is indeed unadjustable (I prefer it a little lower)? If not, I wonder if an easel stand (a la BV 5) can be made for it. It just won't look as good this way in my living room...

well , i think peter's tv looks really lovely

partic. the silver column at the rear , really shows off the extreme slimness of the tv

hopefully they'll update the bv7 soon with an led backlight and slim it down too

Not adjustable - it is the BV6-26 stand though I dare say it can be shortened. It is a fist width from the foot to the bottom of the set.

I will do a proper review obviously but observations so far:

    Disadvantages

    1. No Timer - you need a B&O device with one in - I have the Beocenter 2. Took a little working out but works fine!

    2. Sound - not as full as the Avant - I have been playing with the settings and unusually for me have boosted the bass and it sound quite a lot better. Very clear but I admit the Avant and the BV7 are a lot better if used alone.

    3. It doesn't work the displays on the Penta - not altogether surprising.

    Advantages

    1. Picture through Sky is superb - on Sky HD, even better than the Avant - on digital about the same.

    2. Nice menu system though as I have the analogue system off, it took me a little time to work out how to get to the set up menu - you press it twice! DOH!

    3. Very beautiful - it really does float - the speaker cover integrates very well.

Yes Chris, the 7-55 would fit perfectly into the space in my living room. I also love the way it looks on the floor stand, they both seem to work really well together and provide a natural viewing height and angle. Any idea what the price will be? I'll have to lose the table but I am hoping there will be enough space at the back of the TV to fit the HDMI components.

It's £15,500. You wouldn't catch me spending £15,500 on a TV! If I had to spend more than £10K, I'd prefer a second-hand or ex-demo BV9. You can pick these up for around £10K.

7-55 would be too big for me. As would the BV9. If I am completely honest, I would like the BV10/BV7-40 screen in the BV5 frame so that the sound was that bit better.

    Re: BeoVision 7 40'' BluRay or BeoVision 10 40''

    Hello Peter,

May you please tell me what is the distance betwen the floor and the bottom of the BV10?

I went yesterday to see it and thinks about getting one (if trade-in conditions of my 1 year BV8 are satsifying).

My first choice would be to fix it on a wall, but it seems to be tricky (16 screws in a small area) and risky (I'm not sure the thin brick wall would support such many holes).

Thanks by advance ad have a nice sunday,

    Yann.

100mm from floor to the bottom of the frame though that is the back. The base of the stand is about 40mm thick. Very nice set - the only downside is the sound which is not as well rounded as my Avant which is not surprising. A brick wall should take the weight as long as you use the correct fixings.

Is there any reason why as a second room tv a 7-32 is better than 10-40? I was thinking that a 7-32 panel can be upgraded in the future if new panels are produced with a more superior sound? A 7-32 floor stand with no DVD is similiar in price to a 10-40. Also both have no BS3

    thanks
