How to turn blue BL4000s into silver/aluminum colour??

I have bought some of my brothers B&O items. Among these are a pair of blue BL4000s, but as the silver colour suits me better, I would like to know what it would cost to:
    1) Change the front piece of aluminium and the fabric, and if I can do this myself?? I'm somewhat experienced at taking things apart, but I don't know if they are glued together.

    2) I remember, I think it was on the old Beoworld forum, there was a guy who could "remove" the colour on the 4000s through some kind of chemical process. Does anyone have any experience with this??

The front part comes off with a couple of screws.  The hard part is changing the top and bottom skin. you need to pry off the old and it is attached with very strong double sided tape.  Heating with a heat gun is helpful.  Also the edges are sharp and cut you easily.  Parts cost will depend on your country.

Okay, so it definitely is possible. I have to go to my B&O pusher tomorrow anyway, so I'll ask if it's possible to order. I'm not sure if they are able/allowed to order those kinds of parts for a normal consumer.

    Thanks for the info.

I think that changing the panels and the cloth is far more sensible than trying to have the colour changed.
That would involve de-anodising, re-dyeing and then re-anodising again.  Probably cost a fortune!

Re: How to turn blue BL4000s into silver/aluminum colour??

I visited my B&O dealer today and he told me that the aluminum parts would cost 2800DKR (approx. 340£), and if I wanted the fabric as well it would be 3500DKR (approx. 425£).

So I think it would be easier and cheaper for me to sell them and buy a silvercoloured pair.

Thanks for the pricing info. Looks like it might be a possibility for me here in the US as the price would be about1/4 to 1/5 the price of a new pair and there is not much of a market here  for used speakers.

    Hi.

There was a member named Andy or AndyT who did this.  If I remember correctly, he did some work for Lee at Lifestyle AV.  See this link:
